Chris Cuomo Demanding Over $100 Million from CNN for Damages

Alongside the recent claims that disgraced New York Governor Andrew Cuomo might be eyeing another run at office following his numerous sexual assault allegations, it appears that his brother, former CNN anchor, is also looking to clear his name by demanding a whopping $125 million in damages due to him being fired.

According to legal filings made on Wednesday, Chris Cuomo slammed CNN for being a third-place network that “has a long-established pattern and practice of selectively enforcing its policies based on cynical calculations of public perception.”

Cuomo did stop with just bashing his former employer but also threw a few of his former coworkers under the bus as well. He mentioned that CNN had a habit of making exceptions to members “at the top”. This included Don Lemon, who was caught texting hoaxer Jussie Smollett that the cops didn’t believe his story. There was also Jeffrey Toobin, who famously was caught masturbating during a virtual conference with members of the New Yorker. Toobin was suspended but returned shortly after, only having to give an apology. Cuomo added, “This is the epitome of hypocrisy, as there was no valid basis for terminating his contract.”

While there is no denying that CNN has had a dark past with scandals, rumors, and allegations, when it comes to Chris Cuomo, the anchor was caught using his position within the company to try and find dirt on the people accusing his brother of sexual assault.

But among all the claims made against CNN, the majority of the damages, $110 million worth, stems from CNN  “failing to instruct CNN employees not to disparage Cuomo”.

The filings noted, “Cuomo has had his journalistic integrity unjustifiably smeared, making it difficult if not impossible for Cuomo to find similar work in the future”. It added,  “Zucker and Gollust were fully aware of the scope of Cuomo’s assistance to Gov. Cuomo,” and Chris “had no reason to believe that his assistance to Gov. Cuomo was inconsistent with CNN’s policies.”

Making his own statement, Cuomo’s lawyer, Bryan Freedman, said, “It should by now be obvious to everyone that Chris Cuomo did not lie to CNN about helping his brother. n fact, as the limited information released from WarnerMedia’s investigation makes clear, CNN’s highest-level executives not only knew about Chris’s involvement in helping his brother but also actively assisted the Governor, both through Chris and directly themselves.”
