French President Tries to Negotiate with Putin; Result Is Epic Failure

Another entrenched political failure.

The French usually see themselves as a bridge between East and West, almost neutral. That’s why they are trusted by nobody. In the Ukraine crisis Macron has talked a good game, but is vainly trying to seek a peace he can put his name on before his own election next month.

France has never recovered from the eras of Louis XIV and Napoleon, thinking she still leads Europe. She is a cultural power. But aside from that, not much. Even talking to Putin is batting out of her league. Putin knows that and is taking advantage of it, making Macron try to man up. Macron would be better employed shutting up and sending more help to Ukraine.

Thus Macron left a recent meeting with Vlad the Invader depressed and looking useless. He unsuccessfully tried to warn Putin. He got zip. He asked Putin to get a grip on reality. Nope. Putin just shut him down on all counts.

FNC: “French President Emmanuel Macron said he’s convinced the ‘worst is yet to come’ from Russian President Vladimir Putin after a tense 90-minute call between the two leaders Thursday about the war in Ukraine, according to reports.

The call was initiated by Putin and was distinctly more confrontational than previous exchanges with the Russian leader, the Washington Post reported. The two men also spoke Monday and last Thursday as Macron tries to keep diplomatic channels open.”

“Your country will pay dearly because it will end up as an isolated country, weakened and under sanctions for a very long time,” Macron said in the phone call. He also “called on Vladimir Putin to not lie to himself.”

The Kremlin said Putin told Macron that the mission in Ukraine “will be fulfilled in any case…Attempts to gain time by dragging negotiations will only lead to additional requirements for Kyiv in our negotiating position,” Putin said to Macron, according to press.

“I spoke to President Putin this morning,” Macron tweeted after the phone call. “He refuses to stop his attacks on Ukraine at this point. It is vital to maintain dialogue to avoid human tragedy. I will continue my efforts and contacts. We must avoid the worst.”

Macron says he wants to avoid the worst. You mean invasion? You mean atrocities? You mean tanks shooting at nuclear reactors? Too late President Le Pew.

In related news, Macron announced he’s running for reelection next month, In a “letter to the French” Macron said: “I am seeking your trust again. I am a candidate to invent with you, faced with the century’s challenges, a French and European singular response.”

Singular Europe? Please. Macron’s pleas and words to Putin even embarrass the Germans these days. Nevertheless, he is the front runner and will likely be reelected.
