Spending the last few weeks fueling their grudge for each other, UFC fighters Colby Covington and Jorge Masvidal finally had the chance to face off on Saturday night in Las Vegas at UFC 272. While a spectacular night full of memorable fights, Covington silenced critics as he not only dominated the entire fight, beating Masvidal, but he did it with a unanimous decision. After the fight, Covington admitted that “It was my best performance,” yet what seemed to catch the interest of reporters and the internet was when he spoke on the current state of America. 

In the video, which is featured below, Covington was giving a post-fight press conference when he decided not to make it all about him. Focusing on the current turmoil in the country, he stated, “Mr. 45, President Trump. Greatest President in history… Our fucking country is going to shit right now without him.” Not scared of cancel culture or the backlash he will most likely receive, the fighter also labeled Trump as the greatest president in history. 

As for what people online are saying, comments included, “Don’t you wish our crappy politicians had just an ounce of Colby’s conviction,” “What a legend this guy is…no fear, just tells it like it is,” and “No truer words have been spoken!!!” 

One person couldn’t help but laugh, adding, “And the best part is that he’s untouchable. The mob can’t do anything to him LOL.”
