Nancy Pelosi’s Husband Booked On DUI Charges In California

Are you a drunk? Why no. Wine No. Wineo.

NAPA COUNTY, CA – According to reports, Nancy Pelosi’s 82-year-old husband was arrested over Memorial Day weekend for an alleged DUI incident in Napa County, having spent a few hours in the local jail before bonding out.

Napa County records show that Paul Pelosi was arrested at approximately 11:44 p.m. on May 28th for allegedly having a bit too much to drink before driving, as he was charged with driving with a blood-alcohol level of .08 or higher as well as driving under the influence of alcohol.

Paul Pelosi was booked into jail at around 4:13 a.m. on May 29th and was released roughly three hours later at 7:26 a.m., presumably after posting the $5,000 that his bail was set at following his arrest.

Few details regarding the incident have been shared by officials, with a spokesperson from Rep. Nancy Pelosi’s office saying, “The Speaker will not be commenting on this private matter which occurred while she was on the East Coast.”

TMZ, who was the first to report on Paul Pelosi’s arrest, acknowledged that Rep. Pelosi was undoubtedly out of the state at the time of her husband’s arrest, writing, “it appears she’s in Rhode Island for a commencement speech to graduates there.”

Apparently, the Pelosi’s do have an affinity for alcohol in Napa County, as the family purchased a 16.55-acre vineyard in Saint Helena back in 1990 and received a permit back in 2005 to run a 5,000-gallon-per-year winery.

In a report featured on celebrity blogger Nicki Swift’s website, it was noted that “Pelosi likes to retreat to her Napa Valley vineyard, where she grows her own grapes and makes her own wine to blow off steam.”

Considering the limited details available on the Paul Pelosi case, it’s unclear whether he was enjoying his libations at the aforementioned property.

Throughout the years, there has been speculation that Rep. Nancy Pelosi has a bit of a drinking problem, yet fact-checking outfit PolitiFact assert that any claims of Rep. Pelosi drinking any alcohol are untrue.

However, the only fodder PolitiFact offers to back up their claims that Rep. Pelosi doesn’t consume alcohol is because spokespersons from Rep. Pelosi’s office have simply said she doesn’t drink.

Per the August 2020 PolitiFact article regarding Rep. Pelosi’s alleged affinity for booze, it reads, “We requested an interview with Pelosi for this story. Her office declined, but spokesman Drew Hammill told us in an email that the speaker doesn’t drink. (Pelosi’s office told us she doesn’t drink for a similar fact-check in 2010.)”

Ironically, the PolitiFact article seemingly doesn’t mention the fact that Rep. Pelosi purchased a literal vineyard over thirty years ago. Albeit, someone could certainly own a vineyard and not drink alcohol – but the likelihood feels about on par as someone who owns a car and doesn’t drive.
