Senator Ted Cruz said the world may be on the brink of a historic geopolitical shift, arguing that the next six months could see the collapse of authoritarian regimes in Iran, Venezuela, and Cuba, with democratic elections potentially reshaping the global landscape.
Cruz made the remarks while discussing what he described as unprecedented global change, suggesting that long-standing adversaries of the United States could soon abandon terrorism and anti-American hostility in favor of democratic governance, freedom, and free enterprise.
“Well, Maria, I have to say we are living in extraordinary times,” Cruz said.
“The change that is occurring across the globe exceeds anything we have seen in decades.”

Cruz said there is a realistic possibility that entrenched regimes in all three countries could fall in the near term.
“There is a very real possibility that in the next six months, the regimes in Iran, in Venezuela and Cuba will all fall,” he said.
“There is a real possibility that Iran, Venezuela, and Cuba will all democratically elect new leaders.”

According to Cruz, such a shift would represent a fundamental break from decades of hostility toward the United States.
“Instead of fomenting violence, fomenting attacks on America, instead of waging war on America, there is a real chance in the next six months that the people of those three countries will elect leaders who embrace freedom and free enterprise, and who want to stand with America?” he said.
Cruz emphasized the magnitude of what such developments would mean, placing them among the most consequential moments in modern history.
“And I got to say, if that happens, it is difficult to think of anything more consequential,” he said. “
You have to go back to the fall of the Berlin Wall and to America winning the Cold War without firing a shot to find a time as pivotal as where we are right now.”
The senator singled out Iran as a central threat to global security, pointing to its long-standing role in financing and directing terrorism worldwide.
“If you look at Iran, Iran, for 50 years, has been the world’s leading sponsor of terrorism,” Cruz said.
He detailed Iran’s financial backing of major terrorist organizations.
“They have paid for and funded 90% of the funding of Hamas comes from Iran. 90% of the funding for Hezbollah comes from Iran,” Cruz said.
Cruz also warned that Iran’s influence extends far beyond the Middle East, including activity in the Western Hemisphere.
“Iran funds terrorists all across the globe, including sending terrorists to, among other places, Venezuela, and targeting Americans,” he said.
