Kristi Noem criticized Democrats over immigration and homeland security policies, arguing that their actions have prioritized politics over the safety of American citizens.

“Yeah, it's shocking to me, Sean, to hear them constantly speak on behalf of politics instead of the American people,” Noem said.

Noem said voters will face a clear choice in upcoming elections. “And Americans are going to have a choice coming up here if they want to choose the Democrats mass migration and infiltration of criminals,” she said.

She added that the issue extends beyond criminal activity. “But not just criminals,” Noem said.

“We have 1000s of known and suspected terrorists that the Biden administration led into this country.”

Noem contrasted that with President Donald Trump’s record in office. “Or they can continue to choose President Trump, who is making our country safe again,” she said. “Who is making it more affordable for families to get into homes and to buy their groceries and put gas in their car.”

U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem held a press conference in Bradenton Monday, Oct. 20, 2025, to highlight the department efforts in the first nine months of the Trump Administration.

“He is giving them safety back in their communities,” Noem continued.

“And that is what the Department of Homeland Security does every single day.”

Noem argued that Democratic efforts to reduce funding for the Department of Homeland Security have weakened protections.

“What Democrats have done by defunding this department is put our safety at risk right here on our own soil,” she said.

She described the department’s role in multiple areas of national security.

“We, every day, protect people in their communities,” Noem said.

“But also our cyber security is all through the Department of Homeland Security.”

Noem also referenced maritime enforcement operations. “Our Coast Guard is out doing interdictions on the water,” she said.

She pointed to drug seizures over the past year as evidence of the department’s impact.

“We have stopped enough lethal doses of drugs from coming into this country that would have killed 1.7 billion people,” Noem said.

“That's what the department has done in conjunction with our law enforcement officers in protecting in just the last 12 months,” she added.

Noem concluded by again criticizing Democrats’ approach.

“And the Democrats are saying, no, we want to play politics and we want to risk the lives of Americans,” she said.
