Vice President J.D. Vance said President Donald Trump maintains an intense daily focus on economic performance and pushing policy forward, describing frequent conversations about the administration’s progress.
“And here’s the thing we you know, it’s funny, I talked to the President multiple times a day,” Vance said.
“It’s kind of the job of vice president. You talk to the President a lot.”

He added that the President regularly presses for more action.
“Every single day the President will say to me, what have we done today? Got to do more. Got to do more. Got to do more. Okay?” Vance said.
Vance described the President’s pace as relentless.
“The President has such an intense work pace,” he said.
“And I sometimes think, Mr. President, we got to take stock of all the incredible things that we have accomplished over the last year.”

Turning to inflation, Vance contrasted current economic conditions with those under former President Joe Biden and congressional Democrats.
“When Joe Biden and the Democrats left us the government of this country, we had the highest inflation that we had ever had in 40 years,” he said.
He then cited current figures. “Thanks to Donald Trump and congressional Republicans, we now have inflation at 2.4%,” Vance said.
“The lowest in five years, and it’s coming even lower, ladies and gentlemen.”
Vance also addressed take-home pay.
“Under Joe Biden and the Democrats, the average american lost $3,000 in take home pay,” he said.
“And under Donald Trump and Republicans, in just one year, the average American has seen $1,700 increase in take home pay.”
He framed the increase as a central objective of Republican policy.
“That is more money in your pocket,” Vance said.
“And that’s what we’re here to do, is make you guys more prosperous.”
Energy policy was another focus of his remarks. “Under Joe Biden in the green new scam, we had the highest energy prices that we had had, maybe in my entire lifetime,” he said.
He contrasted that with the current approach.
“Then we had Republicans take over with the simple principle, which is, drill, baby drill,” Vance said.
“Get the oil and the gas out of our territory. Use American workers to provide American companies the energy that they need.”
According to Vance, the shift has lowered costs.
“Now we’ve got gas prices lower,” he said.
“We’ve got electricity and utility bills lower.”
He also referenced specific businesses. “We’ve got companies just like point precision that can actually afford the cost of doing business,” Vance said. “Which they couldn’t do when Joe Biden was in charge.”
Vance criticized Democrats’ messaging on affordability.

“So it’s funny to me when the Democrats talk about affordability,” he said.
“You heard the President talk about this in the State of the Union address.”
He added a comparison.
“Hearing the Democrats talk about affordability is like hearing an arsonist complain about fire,” Vance said.
“It’s your fault.”
Vance continued by placing responsibility on congressional Democrats. “You guys left us a country with sky high inflation,” he said.
“You all left us a country where we were going everywhere but America for energy. You left us a United States of America where the average family was $3,000 poorer.”
He concluded by outlining the administration’s position.

“So our attitude is, you know what? When you talk about affordability, you’re exactly right,” Vance said.
“You caused an affordability problem, congressional Democrats and we are here to fix it.”
