Veteran Democratic strategist James Carville sharply criticized Sen. John Fetterman, D-Pa., over his stance on the war in Iran during a podcast appearance published Saturday, accusing the senator of repeatedly taking positions he views as misguided, as reported by Fox News.
Carville’s remarks came during an episode of the “Politics War Room” podcast, where co-host Al Hunt raised a listener’s question about whether Democrats might be persuaded to support President Donald Trump or ease criticism of him amid the ongoing conflict involving Iran.
Hunt responded first, suggesting there had already been limited movement among some Democrats but warning against broader support.

“That train has left the station,” Hunt replied to the listener, adding, “This war is going so badly that anyone jumping on that train — I’m mixing my metaphors now – it would be a kamikaze mission. So the answer is, ‘No.’”
Carville then offered a pointed response directed at Fetterman. “Can I say a public prayer?” he asked before continuing.
“John Fetterman, whatever you do, keep your position. Don’t change. We don’t want you. Stay right where you are. Because you’ve been wrong about every g**damn thing that you’ve ever said, and we don’t want you to break your streak.”
He added further criticism of the Pennsylvania senator’s stance, stating, “And can I assure you that the fact that you think it’s a good idea is not going to matter one wit to any Democrat,” and suggested that Fetterman’s position could have the opposite effect within the party.

“It might get your name in the paper more,” Carville said, concluding his remarks with, “F**king a**hole.”
Fetterman, who won his Senate seat in Pennsylvania during the closely contested 2022 midterm elections, has taken a number of positions that have drawn attention within his party.
His comments regarding the Iran conflict have been among the most recent examples.
In early March, Fetterman addressed the conflict following a statement from President Trump regarding military action involving Iranian leadership.
Fetterman wrote that he’s “not sure why it’s controversial to anyone to appreciate and celebrate wiping out 49 leaders of one of the most evil regimes in recorded history,” referencing Trump’s announcement that a potentially four-week mission was completed ahead of schedule after identifying multiple Iranian officials in the same location.
The remarks have contributed to divisions among Democrats as the conflict continues to develop.
Fetterman’s position has placed him at odds with other members of his party who have expressed differing views on the war and U.S. involvement.
Fox News Digital reported that it reached out to Fetterman’s office for comment but did not receive an immediate response.
The exchange between Carville and Fetterman reflects ongoing debate within the Democratic Party over foreign policy decisions and responses to the current conflict, as differing viewpoints continue to emerge among party members.
