Republican Rep. Brandon Gill criticized Democratic immigration policies and outlined his party’s position on federal enforcement efforts, stating that Republicans will move forward with funding measures for Immigration and Customs Enforcement despite opposition.
Gill made the remarks while addressing ongoing negotiations related to immigration policy and federal funding, describing what he sees as a pattern in Democratic priorities.
“In their favor and against Republicans. So much of Democrat policy is, in fact, based on flooding American communities with hostile foreigners, putting their interests above the interests of the American people, and weaponizing them politically for electoral gain,” Gill said.

He added, “It’s absolutely grotesque, and yet we deal with it every single day.”
Gill said Republicans would not support any effort to reduce or eliminate funding for immigration enforcement and would instead work to ensure continued operations for ICE agents.
“What we are not going to do as Republicans is we’re not going to allow Democrats to defund ice we’re going to make sure that our ICE agents and immigration enforcement is funded properly the way it should be, so that we can continue deporting illegal aliens no matter what Democrats think about it,” he said.
His comments come as lawmakers continue discussions over immigration policy and broader federal priorities, with disagreements remaining over enforcement levels and funding allocations.

Gill said negotiations are still ongoing but indicated that Republicans intend to follow through on their agenda regardless of Democratic opposition.
“There’s a few more steps that we have in front of us to get a deal done. We’re going to get it done, whether Democrats like it or not,” he said.
He also accused Democrats of using the issue for political leverage and said Republicans would continue pushing forward with their legislative efforts.
“And we’re going to keep fighting because we’re not going to allow Democrats to hold this country hostage for the sake of their own perverse political ambition,” Gill said.
Gill’s remarks focused on the role of ICE and federal immigration enforcement as a central issue in current negotiations, with Republicans emphasizing continued deportation efforts and Democrats pushing for different approaches to immigration policy.
He concluded his remarks by thanking attendees at the event.
“So with that said, thank you all for being here,” Gill said.
