Tiger Woods was involved in a rollover crash Friday afternoon on Jupiter Island, Florida, and local authorities said they are investigating with no immediate public details released about the cause of the wreck or Woods’ condition.
The Martin County Sheriff’s Office confirmed Woods was involved in the crash, which occurred just after 2 p.m. near 281 Beach Road on Jupiter Island. Woods lives in the same town where the crash took place.
As of mid-afternoon Friday, authorities had not released details about what led to the rollover, nor had they provided a formal update on Woods’ condition. The Sheriff’s Office said police were investigating and noted that Sheriff John Budensiek was scheduled to speak with reporters at 5 p.m. ET.
Local reporting described the response as an active investigation and said additional information would be provided when available.

The news immediately drew attention because of Woods’ history and profile in the sport. The 15-time major champion has lived in South Florida for years and remains one of golf’s most recognizable figures, even as his competitive schedule has been limited in recent seasons due to injuries and surgeries.
Friday’s crash also revived memories of Woods’ serious 2021 vehicle accident in California, when he suffered significant injuries. Authorities have not publicly connected the circumstances of the Jupiter Island crash to that incident, and there has been no indication from law enforcement that Friday’s crash involved any broader public safety concerns beyond the ongoing investigation.
The timing is notable as well. Woods has recently been visible in golf’s new competitive formats, including the tech-driven indoor league TGL, which he co-founded with Rory McIlroy. With the Masters approaching in April, questions about whether Woods would play have been part of the broader golf conversation, though his plans have not been formally announced in the reporting tied to Friday’s crash.
For now, the facts remain limited: a rollover crash, a confirmed involvement, and an investigation that was still unfolding Friday afternoon. The next official update is expected to come from the Sheriff’s Office later Friday.
