Authorities in Arizona say a girl who vanished under suspicious circumstances more than three decades ago has been located alive, marking a significant development in a case that remained unresolved for years, as reported by The New York Post.

The Gila County Sheriff’s Office confirmed Wednesday that Christina Marie Plante, who disappeared in May 1994 at the age of 13, has been found.

The case began in the small town of Star Valley, located northeast of Phoenix, where the teen was last seen before she vanished without a trace.

Officials said the breakthrough came recently, though they did not disclose what specific development led to her discovery.

Investigators noted that advances in technology played a role in generating new leads in the long-running case.

Authorities also did not provide details on where Plante was found or when she was located.

At the time of her disappearance, Plante had reportedly left her home to visit a horse at a nearby stable. She never returned.

According to missing person flyers distributed at the time, she was last seen wearing a white T-shirt, multicolored shorts, and black tennis shoes.

Law enforcement classified the case as suspicious from the outset and indicated that the teen may have been in danger.

“Christina was entered into national missing children databases, and missing person flyers were distributed locally, statewide, and in other parts of the country,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement.

Officials said the case remained open over the years, with investigators continuing to revisit evidence and pursue new information as it became available.

“Over the years, the case remained open and active, with investigators periodically re-examining evidence and pursuing new information as it became available,” the statement said.

The sheriff’s office confirmed that after more than three decades, Plante has now been located alive.

“After 32 years, Christina Marie Plante has been located alive,” the statement added.

Authorities said investigators have verified her identity following the discovery.

No additional information about the circumstances surrounding her disappearance or her location over the past 32 years has been released.

Officials stated they are withholding further details about the case.

Authorities said they were not releasing additional information “out of respect for Christina’s privacy and well-being.”

The announcement brings a long-standing missing persons case to a resolution, though many details remain undisclosed.
