A New Jersey nurse was shot and killed inside her workplace early Monday morning in what authorities are describing as an apparent murder-suicide involving her estranged husband, as reported by the New York Post.

Victoria Alexander, 38, was working at the Excelcare Rehabilitation Facility in Egg Harbor Township when the incident unfolded around 6 a.m., according to the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office.

Investigators said her estranged husband, Brandon Alexander, 35, arrived at the facility and waited for her in the parking lot.

Authorities allege he blocked her car as she pulled in for her shift and entered her vehicle, leaving behind two suicide notes on the dashboard.

According to prosecutors, the situation escalated when a food delivery driver approached Brandon Alexander and asked him to move his car.

At that point, Victoria Alexander exited the vehicle and ran toward the building in an attempt to get away.

Officials said Brandon Alexander pursued her inside the facility, where he opened fire.

Authorities stated that Victoria Alexander was shot multiple times inside the building. Emergency responders pronounced her dead at the scene.

Brandon Alexander then turned the weapon on himself, according to investigators. He was transported to a nearby hospital but later died from his injuries.

The Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office said the incident appears to be isolated. No other individuals were injured during the shooting.

Investigators have not released details about the contents of the two suicide notes allegedly left in the vehicle.

The shooting occurred during the early morning hours as staff were arriving at the facility, a rehabilitation center located in Egg Harbor Township.

Authorities have not provided additional information about whether employees or patients were present at the time of the incident inside the building.

Law enforcement officials have not indicated any prior calls to the facility related to the couple, but confirmed that the two were estranged at the time of the shooting.
