Dave Chappelle turned a surprise celebrity moment into comedy gold when he invited Kanye West to join him on stage during his show in Los Angeles on Sunday night, as reported by The New York Post.
According to reports, the performance took place at the Comedy Store in West Hollywood, where audience members were required to lock away their phones.
After finishing his set, Chappelle decided to cap off the night with an unexpected guest appearance by the rapper and producer. Before West walked out, the comedian couldn’t resist cracking a joke at his friend’s expense.

“Kanye West has lost more money than I’ve ever made,” Chappelle reportedly told the crowd, earning a big laugh before bringing him out.

Despite West not performing or speaking to the audience, his entrance was warmly received. Sources said fans broke into cheers and applause as the superstar made his way onto the stage.
Witnesses told the outlet that West even paused to shake hands with members of the audience, adding a personal touch to his unplanned appearance.
Once he joined Chappelle, the audience rose for a standing ovation, welcoming the surprise addition to the already star-packed night.
The show drew some of the biggest names in comedy. Alongside Chappelle, performers like Shane Gillis, Chris Rock, and Louis C.K. were also part of the evening’s lineup.

Chappelle’s quick quip about West added a burst of humor that fit seamlessly with the high-energy live experience, showing his knack for turning any situation into a laugh.

It also marked another time West has stepped into the comedy scene unexpectedly. Back in December, he was brought on stage by Deon Cole during Bianca Censori’s show at the Hollywood Improv.
That earlier appearance also earned West loud cheers and applause from attendees, even though he didn’t perform then either.
For Chappelle, Sunday’s performance came just ahead of his upcoming shows at the Netflix is a Joke Comedy Festival 2026. He is scheduled to headline at the Hollywood Palladium on May 7, 8, and 9.
With big names, spontaneous surprises, and crowd-pleasing banter, the evening blended comedy with star power in true Los Angeles fashion.
