Three Suspects in Custody After Austin Police Link Them to at Least 10 Shootings
Three suspects were taken into custody after Austin police said they were connected to at least 10 shootings that occurred Saturday night and Sunday morning across multiple parts of the city, leaving four people injured, as reported by The Post Millennial.
The Austin Police Department announced the arrests after a series of incidents prompted a shelter-in-place order for residents near South Slaughter Lane, East McKinney Falls Parkway, North Ben White Boulevard, and West Escarpment Boulevard.

Investigators said the shootings appeared to be random, though several incidents reportedly involved fire stations. According to CBS Austin, authorities said some of the attacks appeared to target fire stations during the string of shootings.
Austin Mayor Kirk Watson and APD Chief Lisa Davisin addressed the situation during a Sunday press conference, providing an update on the investigation and the suspects in custody.
“We don’t have any specific motive that has been identified. In fact, these actions appear to be random,” Watson said. “It appears that as part of this, people are changing vehicles.”

The first reported incident happened around 9 p.m. Saturday, when a suspect fired toward Fire Station 26 in East Austin. Police said the next shooting did not occur until about 8 a.m. Sunday, when a male victim was shot and taken to the hospital in serious condition.
Less than three hours later, another shooting was reported when a suspect fired at Fire Station 32 in southeast Austin.
In a separate incident, a witness told authorities they saw someone firing from a vehicle. One person was shot and taken to a South Austin hospital, where surgery was required.
Police said four people were shot across the reported incidents. One victim suffered serious injuries, while three others sustained more minor injuries.

Authorities described the suspects as Hispanic males in their late teens. One suspect was described as having wavy hair, while another was described as having longer hair.
Investigators also identified multiple vehicles believed to be connected to the shootings, including a dark-colored Hyundai, a gold Hyundai, a silver Mazda, and a white Kia.
The shelter-in-place order covered several areas as police worked through the investigation and responded to reports of gunfire. Residents were instructed to remain indoors while authorities searched for those believed to be involved.
Police later confirmed three suspects were in custody in connection with the shootings. Officials did not release a specific motive during the Sunday update.
