A University of Alabama fraternity member has been arrested in connection with an alleged domestic assault involving his ex-girlfriend, while the woman’s father, a veteran New York police detective, is also facing charges after authorities say he confronted the suspect at his residence, as reported by Fox News.
Ryan Jeffery DellaFranco, 20, was arrested on a charge of third-degree domestic violence/assault following an incident that Tuscaloosa police described as a “domestic dispute” involving his 19-year-old ex-girlfriend. The incident, which occurred Sunday, drew attention online and led to additional developments involving the victim’s family.

According to the Tuscaloosa Police Department, the alleged incidents took place at two separate residences in Tuscaloosa. Police did not immediately make an arrest following the initial report. DellaFranco later turned himself in to the authorities and was released after posting a $500 bond.

Before DellaFranco surrendered to police, authorities said the victim’s father traveled to Alabama and went to the suspect’s residence. A Tuscaloosa police spokeswoman told Fox News Digital that the father arrived at the front porch and “made threats to harm him.”
The father, identified as a veteran detective with the Nassau County Police Department on Long Island, was subsequently charged with harassment. He was released after posting a $500 bond.
Officials have not publicly identified him in order to protect the identity of the alleged victim. His current status with the Nassau County Police Department has not been confirmed.
Authorities have not released additional details regarding what led to the alleged domestic incident between DellaFranco and his ex-girlfriend.

The case involving DellaFranco is being investigated by the West Alabama INTERCEPT Task Force, while the Tuscaloosa Police Department is handling both the assault case and the harassment charge stemming from the father’s alleged confrontation.
A spokesperson for the Theta Chi fraternity’s international headquarters confirmed that DellaFranco is no longer affiliated with the organization.
“Mr. DellaFranco is no longer a member of Theta Chi, and the International Fraternity is unaware of any connection between the charges against Mr. DellaFranco and any Theta Chi activity,” the spokesperson said.
“The Fraternity urges anyone with information on these allegations to cooperate with law enforcement,” the statement added.
Officials said the investigation remains ongoing as authorities continue to gather information related to both the alleged assault and the subsequent confrontation.
