Ivanka Trump took a break from her usual routine by hitting the waves during a family vacation in Costa Rica, where the former White House senior adviser was photographed taking a surfing lesson, as reported by Fox News.

The 44-year-old daughter of President Donald Trump was seen riding a green surfboard while wearing a long-sleeved white rash guard and black bikini bottoms during the August 2026 getaway.

Photos from the trip show Ivanka standing on the board as she rode waves, while other images captured her standing in knee-deep water beside the surfboard and waiting for another wave.

The vacation is not Ivanka’s first time surfing in Costa Rica. She previously visited the Central American country with family members during the Easter holiday in April 2025 and was photographed enjoying the beach.

"Grateful doesn’t begin to cover it. Spending Passover and Easter week surrounded by the raw beauty of Costa Rica was a gift beyond words," she wrote on X at the time.

"Time slowed. We surfed under golden skies, zipped through the jungle canopy, leapt into cool waterfalls, read until the sun dipped low, and surrendered to stillness and deep sleep."

Ivanka’s relatives Joshua Kushner and his wife, model Karlie Kloss, also joined her during that 2025 trip.

Her latest vacation photos come after Ivanka shared a collection of images on Instagram featuring family activities and other moments from the summer.

The carousel included her husband, Jared Kushner, and their sons, Theodore and Joseph. The images showed the family participating in a variety of activities, including golf and archery.

One of the photos showed Ivanka relaxing in a swimming pool while wearing a black one-piece swimsuit. Other images showed her posing with her husband and children.

The family-focused update drew positive responses from some followers.

"Authenticity and beauty in one frame.♥️" one commenter wrote.

Ivanka’s appearance in Costa Rica comes as she continues to spend time with her family after stepping away from a prominent political role during her father’s first administration.

During President Trump’s first term in the White House, Ivanka served as a senior adviser to her father for all four years.

She has previously discussed the pressures associated with being closely involved in presidential politics and explained why she wanted to take a different approach during her father’s second term.

During an appearance on "The Skinny Confidential Him & Her" podcast in January 2025, Ivanka described the presidency as an extremely demanding position.

"It's the world's loneliest position [the presidency], the enormity of the decisions you're making on a daily basis, how transactional everyone is with you," she said.

Ivanka said at the time that she was looking forward to stepping back from politics during her father’s second term while remaining supportive of him personally.

She said she was happy to be "able to show up for him as a daughter and be there for him...in a very loving way as his daughter."

Her recent social media posts have largely focused on family life, travel, and summer activities rather than her former White House responsibilities.

The Costa Rica surfing outing adds another outdoor activity to the family’s recent travels.
