Ella Langley is firing back after some fans criticized the way she handled an uncomfortable date request following a concert.

The “Choosin’ Texas” singer went viral after a man shared footage of their brief parking lot exchange on social media.

The moment unfolded after Langley’s Sept. 24 show in Knoxville, Tennessee.

TikTok user Tiki approached from behind a fence in the parking lot and shouted a question at the country singer as she walked nearby.

“Ella, how many likes to take you on a date?” he called out, apparently hoping to negotiate a future outing through social media attention. Langley did not appear interested in entertaining the proposal.

With a serious expression, she looked toward the fan and delivered a firm answer: “Not enough in the world.”

She then frowned and looked away, bringing the hopeful pitch to an abrupt end.

The man responded by standing with his arms crossed and looking directly at the camera.

“You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take,” he said after the rejection.

Once the video reached social media, Langley’s delivery became the center of a heated discussion.

Some viewers believed the singer could have declined the invitation in a lighter or friendlier way.

“This rubbed me the wrong way. And I like her,” one fan wrote in the comments section.

Another viewer questioned her behavior by asking, “Literally what is her problem?”

A third critic focused specifically on the blunt tone of Langley’s answer.

“She could have laughed and said no in a whole different way,” the commenter wrote.

Langley eventually entered the comments section herself to explain what she intended with the response.

According to the singer, her serious delivery was supposed to be a joke, but the uncomfortable silence changed the atmosphere of the encounter.

“It was meant to come off as dark humor. You said that and it got quiet and I got nervous,” Langley wrote.

Her explanation directly addressed viewers who interpreted the exchange as unnecessarily harsh.

Other fans quickly defended Langley and argued that fame did not require her to welcome every shouted request.

One supporter suggested the constant attention could become frustrating, writing, “Being screamed at 24/7 would get irritating.”

Another defender questioned why viewers expected a warmer reaction when the request had been shouted in front of Langley’s team.

“There’s no way yall are mad at her for reacting negatively to a kid screaming at her asking to take her on a date in front of her team??? Yall gotta go outside,” the fan wrote.

Several commenters also framed Langley’s answer as a reasonable personal boundary rather than an insult.

“This made me like her even more. Its not her job to be nice to random men. She set her boundary, respect it,” another supporter wrote.

A separate fan was equally baffled by the backlash and emphasized that Langley had no obligation to accept the invitation.

“She doesn’t have to go on a date with a random guy just because he asked.. are y’all okay ???” the person wrote.

The viral conversation arrived amid speculation about Langley’s personal life.

She was recently seen leaving an event in Nashville with fellow country star Tucker Wetmore, an appearance that sparked romance rumors.

Langley’s Knoxville performance at the Food City Center also came during a major professional moment for the singer.

Her hit “Choosin’ Texas” officially became the longest running No. 1 in all of Billboard’s Hot 100 history after spending 23 weeks in the top spot.

She celebrated the milestone with an Instagram video and thanked listeners “for loving this song.”

The achievement appeared to leave her struggling to describe exactly what she was feeling.

“I’m genuinely trying to find the words to help explain what’s going on in my brain today,” Langley said.

“It feels exactly like a ‘We don’t know! What?’ I don’t know. Thank you so much.”
