Border Czar Tom Homan confirmed Sunday that federal authorities are investigating allegations of immigration fraud involving Democrat Rep. Ilhan Omar of Minnesota.

He also made clear that denaturalization and deportation remain legal possibilities when citizenship is obtained through fraud or deliberate misrepresentation.

During an appearance on Fox News, Homan discussed the government’s authority to revoke citizenship secured under false pretenses.

His comments placed fresh attention on allegations that have followed Omar for years while establishment media outlets largely treated them as inconvenient background noise.

“We have denaturalized citizens based on fraud, based on lying on their applications or lying through the process, misrepresenting themselves, or maybe misrepresenting organizations they belong to or beliefs they have,” Homan said.

The remarks came after Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin addressed the controversy during the Republican National Convention last week.

Mullin said Omar and members of her family are under federal scrutiny over alleged immigration related crimes.

Mullin specifically alleged that Omar “married her brother to try to bring him into the United States” and said there is an “ongoing investigation” into the matter.

The allegation has circulated for years, but comments from senior administration officials indicate federal investigators are now actively examining the available evidence.

“Something’s going to happen,” Mullin said, adding, “If we can prove that you shouldn’t have been here in the first place, we’ll deport you.”

When asked directly about Mullin’s statements, Homan would not reveal evidence, investigative steps, or possible charges.

He described the matter as an “ongoing criminal investigation.” and said he was not in a position to discuss sensitive details while the inquiry continues.

“I know things are going on, but I can’t give specifics of what’s happening,” Homan said.

He added that the Department of Homeland Security continues to investigate, signaling that the case has not been shelved despite years of silence and media indifference.

Homan stopped short of saying that federal officials have opened a formal denaturalization case against Omar.

Still, he explained that citizenship is not an untouchable shield when investigators can prove that an applicant lied or concealed material information during the naturalization process.

“If someone lies through that process to becoming a citizen, and we can prove they in fact lied or misrepresent themselves, we can absolutely denaturalize them. We’ve done it before, many times over the last 40 years I’ve been around.”

That warning matters because naturalization depends on truthful disclosures to federal authorities.

If investigators establish that fraud occurred and that the alleged deception influenced the citizenship process, the government can pursue denaturalization through established legal channels rather than simply shrugging because the individual later won elected office.

No public evidence cited by Homan during the interview established that Omar committed the alleged fraud.

His comments instead confirmed that investigators are examining the claims and that federal law provides serious consequences if prosecutors can prove deception occurred.

Democrats would almost certainly portray any enforcement action involving Omar as partisan retaliation, regardless of what investigators uncover.

Homan anticipated that familiar defense and rejected the notion that political status should exempt any person from immigration law.

“ICE is enforcing law that Congress wrote!” Homan said.

The statement cuts through the expected Washington theatrics, since immigration officers do not invent the statutes they enforce, and members of Congress should not demand immunity from laws passed by Congress itself.

The investigation now places pressure on federal authorities to follow the facts wherever they lead.

If the allegations cannot be substantiated, the evidence should determine that result, but if fraud is proven, Omar’s office, party affiliation, and celebrity status should not purchase a special exemption from accountability.

Homan’s comments suggest the Trump administration intends to apply immigration law even when doing so triggers outrage from Democrats and their dependable allies in the corporate press.

Whether the inquiry produces charges, denaturalization proceedings, or no formal action will depend on the evidence gathered by investigators.

What is already clear is that the controversy is no longer merely internet chatter, since senior federal officials now publicly acknowledge an active criminal investigation.
