  • Federal investigators questioned Ilhan Omar’s older sister, Sahra Noor, following a search of the congresswoman’s Washington residence.
  • The probe examines whether Omar or her father falsified information on her citizenship paperwork.
  • Agents reportedly seized Omar’s phone, passport and computer, while approximately a dozen people have been subpoenaed.
  • Omar called the raid politically motivated, while Vice President JD Vance said facts and the law would guide the investigation.

Rep. Ilhan Omar's older sister voluntarily spoke with federal investigators last week in connection with an immigration fraud probe involving the Minnesota Democrat, according to three sources familiar with the investigation. The interview followed an early morning search of the Washington, D.C., residence Omar shares with her husband.

The sources said Sahra Noor spoke with investigators after the Monday raid. The scope of Noor's conversation with federal authorities remains unclear.

Like Omar, Noor came to the United States as a child after fleeing the civil war in Somalia. According to her LinkedIn page, she currently lives in Kenya but has been in the United States promoting her book, "Salt in the Snow: A Somali Immigrant Story."

Noor canceled a Minnesota appearance on her book tour last week as fallout from the raid and her interview with investigators unfolded. The event had been scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 15, 2026.

The University of Minnesota Rochester was set to host the appearance. Garden Party Books, a local bookstore, promoted the event online and described itself as a "proud supporter" alongside the university and the Rochester Public Library.

A Garden Party Books representative told Fox News Digital last week that Noor canceled because of a "family emergency." It has since been revealed that she was questioned by federal investigators during the same week.

Homeland Security Investigations searched Omar's Washington home at around 6 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 12, 2026. The agency is the chief investigative body of the Department of Homeland Security.

Sources confirmed that agents executed a search warrant connected to the immigration fraud investigation. Investigators are examining whether Omar or her father falsified information while completing her citizenship paperwork.

Border czar Tom Homan said over the weekend that the allegations, if proven, could result in Omar's denaturalization. The investigation remains focused on the citizenship paperwork allegations described by the sources.

During the search, agents seized Omar's personal phone, passport and computer, according to a report from The Wall Street Journal. Omar's attorneys demanded over the weekend that the Justice Department return some of the property Homeland Security Investigations confiscated.

The New York Times separately reported that approximately a dozen people have been subpoenaed in the case. Those reportedly receiving subpoenas include relatives of the congresswoman.

Omar has not been seen publicly since before the raid. Her husband, Tim Mynett, has been seen walking their dog, taking out the trash, and speaking outside their residence with one of Omar's aides.

The congresswoman has not responded to repeated requests for comment from Fox News Digital. She did, however, issue a public statement on social media after federal agents searched her home.

"This raid by Trump’s DHS is an outrageous abuse of power and an unprecedented escalation in the weaponization of federal law enforcement to target political enemies," she said in a statement posted to X hours after federal agents arrived.

"For a decade, Donald Trump has relentlessly targeted Congresswoman Ilhan Omar with inflammatory rhetoric, repeatedly putting a target on her back," the post continued.

"Now, those attacks have escalated to a pointless federal raid. The Congresswoman has done nothing wrong. No president should be able to use the power of the federal government to intimidate his political enemies."

Vice President JD Vance rejected the claim that the investigation was politically motivated during an interview with Fox News Digital last Tuesday. He said the administration wants the facts and the law to guide the case.

"We don't want to be like the Biden administration. We never want to be like that — where they would allow the law to go after their political opponents," Vance said.

"We really want to let the law, the facts drive this," he continued. "And if justice requires something else be done, then, of course, we'll take a step when we have to."
