Halle Berry left a Los Angeles courthouse on Friday holding hands with fiancé Van Hunt as her custody fight with ex-husband Olivier Martinez continued. The actress, 60, showed a small smile while walking from the building after her fifth consecutive day in court that week.

Berry wore a patterned blouse with black trousers and a chic black coat. She completed the monochromatic outfit with closed-toe black pumps, dark sunglasses, and a black purse, while styling her shorter hair in natural waves.

Hunt accompanied Berry in a black pinstripe suit with a white shirt underneath. His engagement to the actress was confirmed in February.

The appearance came as Berry and Martinez remained locked in a dispute involving their son, Maceo, 13. Earlier in October, Martinez obtained a temporary domestic violence restraining order against Berry after accusing her of “physically abusing” Maceo “by jumping on him and choking him” during a September 26 incident. Berry has denied all of the allegations.

Berry was also seen at court on Thursday, when her daughter, Nahla Aubry, 18, had been slated to testify through an online stream, according to a previous TMZ report. Nahla is currently attending college in Massachusetts.

Nahla had already defended her mother in an October 5 declaration filed with Los Angeles Superior Court and reviewed by The Daily Mail. She disputed claims that she had witnessed Berry behave violently toward Maceo or anyone else.

“I have also never seen my mom throw anything at anyone, not a knife, or plate, or any other object,” Nahla said in the filing. “I have never seen my mom hit, slap, choke, grab, or physically abuse Maceo in any way.”

Nahla said she had seen Berry and Maceo “playfully wrestle, tickle each other, and roll around laughing on the floor or on a bed many times.” She added that she had never witnessed her mother engage “in any conduct remotely resembling the allegations that have been made against her.”

In the declaration, Nahla called Berry “a loving and devoted parent” who “can be strict when necessary and expects her children to follow rules and be respectful.” She also said she was “heartbroken for Maceo” because he had become “the subject of a public dispute that he may not fully understand.”

Nahla said she had been “angry” with Martinez because she felt he “did not respect or care about [her] enough to subject me to headlines about [her] mom.” She was the latest scheduled witness in proceedings that had also included testimony from Berry, Martinez and Maceo.

Hunt had also been expected to speak with the court. In a separate filing made earlier in October and reviewed by The Daily Mail, Berry claimed Martinez repeatedly inserted himself into issues surrounding Maceo’s schooling and therapy, obstructing progress in those areas.

Berry also alleged that Martinez had inappropriately involved Maceo in the custody battle and undermined her efforts with the teenager. She asked the court to grant her “sole legal custody over matters relating to Maceo's education, healthcare, and mental-health treatment,” and “extend [her] tie-breaking authority indefinitely.”

Berry said those requests would allow “necessary interventions” to proceed without continued delay, conflict, and harm to Maceo. Her attorneys alleged that the case had continued because of Martinez’s efforts to use manipulation, alienation, and litigation to obstruct interventions for their son and circumvent court orders.

The actress further claimed that Maceo’s “behavioral issues at school have significantly escalated” since the temporary restraining order was issued. She cited letters from school administrators describing him as “increasingly oppositional, defiant, and disrespectful toward both peers and authority figures.”

Berry said school officials had reported disruptive conduct, inappropriate language, objects being thrown at peers, harassment of a younger student, and a week of detention. She also claimed that, with Martinez’s encouragement, Maceo had come to believe he had a say in decisions involving his education, health, activities, and general welfare.

Along with seeking sole custody, Berry requested authorization for Maceo to attend therapy for one year, including “both individual and conjoint” sessions with a therapist she chooses. She also asked that both parties communicate exclusively through Our Family Wizard and check the app once daily, with no more than one message each day unless there is an emergency.

Berry and Martinez were married from 2013 until 2015 and finalized their split in 2023. Their latest court proceedings continued as Berry emerged beside Hunt, with the couple holding hands while leaving the building together.
