A Minnesota homecoming football celebration shattered by gunfire is fueling fresh outrage over crime and bail after the accused shooter was released from jail two days after his arrest. The shooting outside Eden Prairie High School injured two teenagers and forced an evacuation of the stadium.

Adam Abdihakeem Adam, 18, posted bond and was released Saturday evening, according to Hennepin County jail records reviewed by Fox News Digital. Police say Adam shot the teenagers during the school’s Oct. 2 homecoming football game.

The shooting injured an 18-year-old and a 17-year-old, according to Eden Prairie police. The violence also triggered a search involving multiple law enforcement agencies for those believed to have participated.

Investigators allege two vehicles entered a parking lot before a fight involving about 10 people erupted. The driver of one vehicle then got out, fired at the victims, and fled, according to charging documents cited by FOX 9 Minneapolis.

Authorities identified Adam as that driver and alleged that he had been driving his brother’s vehicle. Investigators tracked his phone with the vehicle before, during, and after the shooting.

Adam later allegedly abandoned the phone and changed his number. A search of his St. Louis Park home uncovered clothing matching what the shooter wore in surveillance video, according to the charges cited by FOX 9.

Police located Adam on Oct. 8 near Highway 55 and Penn Avenue in Minneapolis. Officers took him into custody without incident, ending the search six days after the homecoming shooting.

The Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office credited detectives from its Auto Theft Task Force and West Metro Drug Task Force, along with officers from St. Louis Park and Hopkins. Authorities said those officers safely boxed in the vehicle.

“I’m incredibly proud of our officers and investigators who have worked nonstop alongside our law enforcement partners to identify those responsible and hold them accountable,” Eden Prairie Police Chief Matt Sackett said after the arrest.

That custody proved brief. Jail records show Adam was released at 7:04 p.m. on Oct. 10, only two days after his booking into the Hennepin County Jail.

Records list a $100,000 bail or bond option without conditions. President Donald Trump’s Rapid Response 47 account criticized the release while highlighting police statements that linked the shooting to rival Somali gangs.

“A Radical Left judge immediately granted him a no-condition bail,” the account wrote on X. The release quickly turned the Eden Prairie case into another flashpoint over bail and public safety in Minnesota.

Adam faces two felony counts of assault in the second degree with a dangerous weapon. He also faces one count of riot in the second degree while armed with a dangerous weapon, and his next court appearance is scheduled for Monday afternoon.

The case has intensified concerns about violence involving Somali gangs across the Minneapolis metropolitan area. Regional public safety agencies have met under the coordination of the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension to discuss the issue.

Police leaders said participating agencies are sharing intelligence and coordinating investigations in an effort to prevent additional shootings. Republican U.S. Senate candidate Michele Tafoya also cited the Eden Prairie shooting and other recent violence while warning that Minnesotans increasingly feel threatened.

“Our law enforcement here are calling it out as the product of Somali gang violence, and we’ve got to identify it, and we have to find a way to deal with it,” Tafoya told Fox News Digital.

Eden Prairie police are separately investigating an Oct. 5 gunfire incident at a Speedway gas station. No injuries were reported, and investigators said they have not identified a connection between that incident and the homecoming shooting.

Sackett said the investigation into the homecoming shooting remains active. Additional arrests or charges remain possible as police continue working the case that sent football fans fleeing and left two teenagers injured.
