Rod Stewart is preparing to close the curtain on his career as a major touring artist. The 81 year old singer announced Rod Stewart: The Final Encore on September 28th, revealing 21 dates across the U.K. and Europe in 2027.
The tour will end a road career spanning more than six decades. Stewart has performed since his teenage years in the early 1960s, well before his solo career turned him into a household name.
“The time has come to say farewell to life on the road,” Stewart said while announcing the shows. He also said The Final Encore will “most definitely” be his last tour.
The announcement does not necessarily mean Stewart is walking away from music completely. He has indicated that he could continue recording music and may consider occasional performances after his regular touring career ends.

The European leg is scheduled to begin on April 23rd, 2027, at 3Arena in Dublin, Ireland. Stewart will then perform in Belfast, Glasgow, Birmingham, Manchester, and London before moving into mainland Europe.
According to Hot Press, the schedule includes stops in Amsterdam, Berlin, Copenhagen, Helsinki, Budapest, Munich, and Prague. The final listed performance is scheduled for July 24th at ZAG Arena in Hanover, Germany.
Although The Final Encore is presented as Stewart’s last major tour, he still has performances planned in the United States. His previously rescheduled Red Rocks shows in Colorado are currently scheduled for September 2027.

Those Colorado concerts could happen after The Final Encore reaches its scheduled conclusion in Germany. The calendar therefore leaves Stewart with additional performances following the final listed date on the announced U.K. and European run.
The farewell announcement arrives after a difficult period for Stewart on the road. Earlier this year, he paused a performance in Utah after nearly fainting and was later seen using an oxygen mask backstage.
Additional concerts were canceled following that incident. In August, The Guardian reported that Stewart underwent a routine procedure to have a coronary stent inserted.
His representatives said Stewart needed several weeks to recover from the procedure. That recovery period led to the cancellation of the remaining U.S. dates on his One Last Time tour, along with a Las Vegas residency.
Stewart said at the time that he was feeling better and recovering. He has now turned attention toward the 2027 farewell schedule and the final extended arena run of his touring career.
The distinction between retiring from touring and retiring from music remains important. Stewart is saying goodbye to the demands of life on the road, but he has not ruled out future studio work or isolated appearances.

The Guardian also noted that Stewart has left open the possibility of occasional gigs. That means The Final Encore may close his major touring chapter without becoming his final public performance or musical project.
Stewart has also discussed unfinished songs with Ronnie Wood, his former Faces bandmate. The pair hope to finish that material when their schedules provide the opportunity, leaving open another possible path for future music.
For fans, the announced tour represents one last major run of arena performances from the veteran singer. After more than 60 years on stage, Stewart is preparing to step away from touring while keeping the door open to records and occasional shows.
