WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
  • Sunny Hostin disputed Joe Rogan’s description of Biden’s border policies by citing Biden’s instruction to illegal aliens not to come.
  • Rogan criticized border access, transportation, hotel accommodations, mandatory Covid vaccine policies, and Trump’s handling of the ongoing Iran war.
  • The article said more than 20 million illegal aliens crossed under Biden and cited the CBP One app as evidence supporting Rogan’s criticism.
  • US border apprehensions in fiscal year 2026 reportedly fell 95% compared with the annual average under the Biden administration.

Sunny Hostin’s attempt to correct Joe Rogan over Joe Biden’s border policies quickly became the target of ridicule. The View personality smugly claimed Rogan was wrong to describe the border as open.

Rogan condemned the Biden administration’s handling of the border in blunt terms. “It was insane to not only leave the border open but to give people instructions on how to get in and also transport them to cities and then put them up in hotels,” Joe Rogan said.

He then raised questions about what the administration hoped to accomplish through those policies. Rogan wondered whether the goal involved cheap labor or eventually gaining loyal voters by helping people enter the country.

“Was it cheap labor? Was it to turn these people into citizens and permanently voting your side because you helped them get in?” Rogan continued, directly questioning the possible political consequences of the border policies.

His criticism of Biden was not limited to immigration. Rogan also criticized Biden’s mandatory COVID vaccine policies, adding another point of disagreement with the former president’s approach.

Hostin nevertheless focused on Rogan’s description of the border under Biden. She attempted to disprove his criticism by arguing that the border could not have been open because Biden once told illegal aliens, “don’t come.”

That response is a humiliating failure rather than a meaningful correction. That single statement from Biden did not erase the scale of illegal border crossings during his administration.

More than 20 million illegal aliens crossed the border while Biden and his border czar, Kamala Harris, were in charge. That figure was offered as the central rebuttal to Hostin’s claim that the border was not open.

The CBP One mobile app is evidence supporting Rogan’s broader criticism. It said the Biden administration provided the app to illegal aliens, giving them instructions for entering the United States and obtaining housing and benefits.

Rogan had specifically criticized officials for providing instructions, transportation to cities, and hotel accommodations. The CBP One app and the support offered to illegal aliens aligned with the policies he described.

Republican governors also became part of the dispute over transportation. Governors such as Abbott moved illegal aliens only to Democratic states because those states supported open border policies.

Hostin’s attempted correction did not address those specific claims about the mobile app, housing, benefits, transportation, or the total number of people who crossed. Instead, her argument centered on Biden’s isolated instruction that illegal aliens should not come.

Contrast that with the Biden years with the situation following Trump’s return to office. Illegal border crossings immediately halted after Trump was sworn into office in January 2026.

US border apprehensions during fiscal year 2026 decreased by 95% compared with the annual average under the Biden administration, according to the figures presented. That dramatic decline was cited as additional evidence against Hostin’s effort to dismiss Rogan’s open border criticism.

The exchange ultimately left Hostin’s smug intervention looking painfully thin. Rogan criticized specific practices and questioned their purpose, while Hostin answered with one Biden remark that did not address the figures, the CBP One app, transportation, housing, benefits, or the later 95% decline in apprehensions.
