Chet Hanks confronted comedian Eric André last weekend, bringing a feud that stretched across years into a face-to-face encounter caught on video. The son of Tom Hanks approached André while the comedian was walking through a convention, as reported by Fox News.
Hanks, a 36-year-old musician, shared footage of the confrontation on Instagram and offered his version of what happened. He claimed André was traveling through ComplexCon with four security guards and initially did not remember criticizing him publicly.
"Finally ran into @ericf-----gandre , who apparently travels to ComplexCon with 4 security guards (because the environment makes him uneasy) and who had NO MEMORY WHATSOEVER of trashing me to the media after I outshined him on his own show!!" Hanks wrote.
Hanks then said André acknowledged having an issue with an accent Hanks had used years earlier. "Until after being sheltered by his security team, he began foaming at the mouth and admitted it was because he had a problem with me ‘mocking Caribbean culture’ when I did my Jamaican accent all those years ago."

The musician closed his Instagram remarks with another shot at André’s comedy and a sarcastic reference to cultural activism. "WHO KNEW that in addition to the brain rot and poop joke humor he is known for, Eric is also such a passionate cultural activist!!! Great running into you, Eric!!!!"

The video shows Hanks walking up behind André and placing a hand on his shoulder. André turns toward him and initially appears to greet him in a friendly manner before Hanks begins confronting him about the earlier remarks.
"What’s up?" André asks in the recording. As the exchange continues, he can also be heard asking, "What’d I say?"

Hanks keeps speaking to André, but his words during that portion of the encounter cannot be heard clearly in the video. André responds by shrugging a couple of times as Hanks continues expressing his frustration.
The confrontation ends with André walking away alongside his security team. André says something about Hanks’ father, Tom Hanks, while Hanks laughs with his friends and declares, "That was a long time coming."
The friction dates back to Chet Hanks’ appearance on "The Eric Andre Show" in June 2023. Months before the episode aired, André spoke to Rolling Stone about Hanks and described the experience in harsh terms.
Hanks "broke our crew. It felt like ‘Rust.’ He broke us down," André told the publication. He then offered a much longer criticism of Hanks’ alleged conduct during the production.
"He is … emotionally disturbed," André continued. "He stole a motorcycle and rode it around. He almost knocked a bunch of grips and gaffers off their ladders. It was very dangerous."
André also claimed Hanks attempted to turn the show’s pranks back on the crew. "He tried to prank us back, but we edited out all his bulls---! He’s not well. How did Colin Hanks come out so good and Chet Hanks come out so bad?"
After the Rolling Stone interview was published, Hanks responded through his Instagram Stories. According to Page Six, he called André a "p----" and claimed in a video that he had "outshined" the comedian during his appearance.
Hanks said he had only been attempting to "match energy" with the kinds of "weird, outlandish, troll" guests featured on André’s program. His account sharply differed from André’s description of the taping as dangerous and disruptive.
The convention encounter put the two men face to face after their competing public claims about the show. Fox News Digital reached out to André for comment following the confrontation.
