President Donald Trump announced Friday that his administration will send $90 payments to more than 20 million seniors to help cover Medicare Part B premiums. The one-time checks are part of an effort the president said will make Medicare more affordable for seniors.
A White House fact sheet said the money will reach more than 20 million Medicare Part B enrollees. Most eligible recipients are expected to receive the payment through direct deposit in early October, while others will receive a check by mail.
“I am pleased to announce that my Administration will, immediately, begin sending ‘Checks’ of nearly $100 to over 20 MILLION wonderful Seniors to help pay for their Medicare Part B premiums, which we have already reduced by significant amounts,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
Based on the figures Trump provided, the payments would total roughly $2 billion. The president said the money would come from the Medicare Improvement Fund.

“This money will come from the Medicare Improvement Fund, a pointless ‘Slush Fund’ that has only been used by Dumocrats in Congress to pay for the Waste, Fraud, and Abuse for their Special Interest friends, and drive up Healthcare costs,” Trump continued.
The administration said most Medicare Part B enrollees will qualify for the payments. The exceptions are people whose premiums are already paid by Medicaid and those who pay an Income-Related Monthly Adjustment Amount.
For 2026, the standard monthly premium for Medicare Part B is $202.90, according to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. The annual deductible is $283.
Trump said his administration is now using the Medicare Improvement Fund, along with what he called his Most Favored Nations Deals, to lower costs for seniors. He also connected the new payments to his promises concerning Medicare and Social Security.

“We are finally using this Fund, along with my Most Favored Nations Deals, to substantially LOWER costs for our Seniors,” Trump said. “I pledged to protect and preserve Medicare and Social Security, which were on the verge of RUIN by Joe Biden, who foolishly and maliciously let tens of millions of Illegal Aliens into our Country, and we are doing just that for America’s Seniors.”
The president said the latest “give back” plan is separate from another initiative recently announced by his administration. That program involves refund checks for roughly one million Americans the administration says were overcharged for ObamaCare.
An administration official previously told Fox News Digital that the United States Treasury had started issuing $500 refund checks to more than 950,000 Americans. Those recipients are spread across 30 states, and each refund includes a letter from Trump.
Trump also said the Medicare checks will not interfere with his campaign promise to provide a $5,000 “Trump dividend.” Under his proposal, the dividend would be distributed if Republicans retain control of the House and Senate in the upcoming midterm elections.

The president previously announced the proposed dividend payments during the Republican Party’s midterm convention over the summer. The proposal could potentially cost more than $1 trillion and would add to the national debt.
Trump tied the promised dividend to what he described as his delivery on an important issue for the American people. The Medicare payments, however, are being presented as an immediate benefit for eligible seniors rather than a payment dependent on the election outcome.
“Because I delivered on this very important issue for the American People, they can also rest assured the highly popular $5,000 Trump Dividend will be distributed to every U.S. Citizen if, and when, the Republicans win the Midterm Elections!” Trump wrote.
The Medicare plan therefore stands apart from both the ObamaCare refunds and the proposed $5,000 dividend. Eligible Medicare Part B enrollees are expected to receive their $90 through direct deposit or a mailed check, with most payments arriving in early October.
