Democratic National Committee Vice Chair David Hogg endorsed Texas Democratic Rep. Jasmine Crockett as a model leader for the Democratic Party during an interview aired Friday, as reported by The Daily Caller.

Hogg made the comments while speaking with radio host Charlamagne Tha God, citing Crockett’s blunt political style and far-left messaging as a reason he believes she represents the “authenticity” voters want to see.

“Jasmine Crockett — I love her. She is amazing,” Hogg said. “People want to see somebody who fights and calls out the bullsh*t ultimately. I think that’s what Jasmine does.”

Crockett, a freshman congresswoman and member of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, has become known for her inflammatory rhetoric and aggressive public commentary.

She made national headlines after calling Texas Governor Greg Abbott, who uses a wheelchair, “Governor Hot Wheels.”

Abbott responded:

In a March 2024 interview with Lone Star Politics, she admitted that opposing President Donald Trump was a greater priority to her than advancing legislation in Congress.

Hogg praised Crockett’s unapologetic tone. “We need a hell of a lot more people… willing to do just that and call people out on their BS and not say, ‘Oh my God, Republicans are going to criticize me,’” he said. “Screw that. They’re going to criticize you no matter what.”

“She doesn’t give a damn what the other side — at least the elected Republicans in Congress — say,” Hogg continued. “Even if you don’t agree with her, you know what she stands for… People are really craving that right now.”

Crockett was asked in March on WFAA’s Inside Texas Politics whether she would consider running for president in 2028. She responded that her “authentic” personality would likely prevent her from winning a national election.

Political commentator Chris Cillizza echoed that sentiment in April, saying Crockett's progressive posture may appeal to left-wing activists but would alienate general election voters.

“Jasmine Crockett is great if you’re a Democratic activist type… The problem is Democratic activists alone don’t win you the presidency,” Cillizza said.

Hogg co-founded Leaders We Deserve in 2023, a political action group that announced plans to spend $20 million in support of younger Democrats, including primary challengers to current Democratic House incumbents.
