Eric Trump says his younger brother Barron Trump offered a polite congratulatory remark to former President Joe Biden during a brief exchange captured on camera at the Capitol Rotunda during President Donald Trump’s inauguration in January, as reported by The New York Post.
The moment drew widespread speculation online after television footage showed Barron walk up to Biden, shake hands, and lean in to speak, prompting questions about what was said.
The interaction took place as the Trump family gathered inside the Rotunda. At the time, viewers noted Biden’s smile shift quickly after Barron approached him, causing social media users to debate the content of the exchange.

Eric Trump addressed the question during an interview with podcast host Megyn Kelly in Miami last week. He said he eventually asked Barron directly.
“One night I call Barron and I go ‘Buddy, what did you actually say?’ And it was something so polite I almost wouldn’t even get it right,” Eric told Kelly. “But like, ‘Congratulations, and best of luck to you,’ or something like that. Something very respectable.”
Eric said theories circulated widely, including claims that Barron had made an insulting remark toward Biden. He said Patrick Bet-David had asked him about one such rumor during an appearance on the PBD Podcast.

“Patrick Bet-David, I was on his show, and he goes, ‘Did Barron really tell Biden to go f himself?’ He [Barron] just doesn’t have that in him,” Eric said. “He’s probably thinking it, he definitely has it up here, but like he’s too courteous to actually go out there and say it.”
Eric described his relationship with Barron as close and said he understood how easily speculation could grow around a brief, silent exchange. He noted that despite the viral attention, the actual comment was simple and courteous.
The discussion arose while Eric and Kelly were talking about which member of the Trump family might be considered the nicest. “I’m the nicest Trump,” Eric said during the event, drawing laughs from the audience.
He then acknowledged that his half-sister Tiffany might hold that title. Kelly suggested Eric was the nicest of the male Trumps. Eric then added, “Yeah, well, Don is kind of a jerk, right?” referring to Donald Trump Jr.
He said, “My father’s pretty tough and Barron is young — he’s not old enough to be a jerk and get away with it.” He also said, “He’s a little shy, but yet Barron’s smart as hell.”
