Rep. Tim Burchett called for Senate action on the SAVE AMERICA Act and criticized Democratic opposition to voter ID requirements, arguing that the debate centers on election integrity.

Speaking about voter identification laws, Burchett questioned why requiring photo identification to vote has become controversial.

“You an American citizen, get ready to vote, and you got to show a dag gum photo ID to vote, and that ID 213, Democrats used their IDs to vote yesterday. Nobody hollered about racism there. It's just ridiculous,” Burchett said.

He said the dispute is about corruption and political control rather than race.

“Folks, this thing is just about corruption, and it's about control, and the Democrat Party ought to be ashamed. It's just pathetic. That's not any way to treat people. We ought to have safe elections, and they are fighting us tooth and nail,” he said.

Burchett expressed confidence that the legislation could move forward in the Senate, crediting leadership and sponsors for advancing it in the House.

“Hopefully we can get enough folks in the Senate. It'll happen. Believe leader tone is on the right path, getting it there, and our sponsorship, Roy and the House did a great job and passed it three dad, young times,” Burchett said.

He also voiced support for Sen. Mike Lee and encouraged constituents to contact their senators in support of the bill.
