A Polish lawmaker forcefully defended his country’s immigration policies during a back-and-forth with a reporter, emphasizing Poland’s refusal to accept illegal migrants while highlighting economic and security outcomes.
The exchange began with a straightforward question.
“How many refugees has Poland taken?” the reporter asked.
“Zero,” Dominik Tarczynski replied.

“And you're proud of that?” the reporter followed up.
Tarczynski clarified what he meant.
“If you are asking me, if you're if you are asking me about Muslim Muslims, illegal immigration, none,” he said. “Not even one will come to Poland. Not even one, if it's illegal.”
He added that Poland has accepted large numbers of Ukrainians.

“We took over 2 million Ukrainians who are working, who are peaceful in Poland,” Tarczynski said. “We will not receive even one Muslim, because this is what we promised.”
The reporter challenged him again.
“But I asked illegal immigrants. I asked about refugees,” the reporter said. “And Jean-Claude Juncker, the commission president, says that you're racist. You sound proud of the fact that you haven't taken any refugees.”
Tarczynski said the policy reflects the will of Polish voters.
“Of course, because this is what our people expecting from our government,” he said. “That's number one. This is why our government was elected.”
He linked the policy to public safety.
“This is why Poland is so safe,” Tarczynski said. “This is the reason why we have not even one terrorist attack.”
He urged critics to observe conditions in his country.
“Look at the streets in Poland,” he said. “We can be called populists, nationalists, racists. I don't care.”
“I care about my family and about my country,” he added.
Tarczynski also cited economic data.
“The lowest unemployment in European Union is Poland,” he said. “The highest GDP after covid in European Union is Poland. One of the lowest debts in European Union is Poland.”
He rejected arguments in favor of skilled immigration.
“So don't give us this rubbish about the need of educated immigration,” Tarczynski said. “We don't need your doctors. We don't need your engineers.”
“Take them, take them all, and pay for them,” he continued. “We don't need them.”
He returned to the issue of security.
“You know? Why? Because there is a zero terrorist attacks in Poland,” he said. “Why Because? Because there is no illegal migration in Poland.”
Tarczynski dismissed accusations of populism.
“So don't give me this look,” he said. “Don't give me this arguments about the populism, because this is a fact.”
“This is your data from Eurostat,” he added.
He again rejected outside criticism.
“We don't need your engineers. We don't need your doctors. Take them,” Tarczynski said.
“Do not, do not. Do not teach us do not, do not teach us about democracy,” he continued. “Because we know what the democracy is.”
He ended with a pointed message.
“So learn from Poland. Be like Poland,” Tarczynski said. “Thank you very much.”
