President Trump said Iran has agreed to abandon its pursuit of nuclear weapons as part of ongoing efforts to end the war, describing the development as a key concession tied to potential peace negotiations, as reported by The New York Post.

“They’ve agreed,” Trump said. “They will never have a nuclear weapon. They’ve agreed to that.”

Iran has not publicly confirmed that position and has denied engaging in talks with the United States. Despite that, Trump indicated that discussions are underway and suggested that Tehran is motivated to reach an agreement.

“We’re actually talking to the right people, and they want to make a deal so badly, you have no idea how badly they want to make a deal,” the president said.

He added that Iranian officials appear to be shifting their stance during negotiations.

“They’re talking to us, and they’re talking sense,” Trump noted.

The comments come as U.S. and Iranian officials prepare for another round of negotiations aimed at securing a ceasefire, while also planning for further military action if talks collapse.

Trump has repeatedly emphasized that any agreement must include the complete dismantling of Iran’s nuclear capabilities, including its stockpile of enriched uranium.

“We want the nuclear dust. We’re going to want that,” he said Monday while leaving Florida, referring to Iran’s nuclear material.

At the same time, the Department of War is preparing to expand the U.S. military presence in the region.

According to a source familiar with the plan, thousands of troops from the Army’s 82nd Infantry Division are expected to deploy to the Middle East.

The Pentagon is anticipated to announce the deployment of a 3,000-person brigade combat team from the North Carolina-based unit, according to a report by the Wall Street Journal.

The 82nd Airborne Division is one of the military’s primary rapid-response forces, capable of deploying a battalion within 18 hours and a full brigade within 72 hours.

The potential deployment comes as the U.S. continues operations alongside Israel in the ongoing conflict with Iran. Officials have indicated that maintaining pressure on Tehran remains a priority as negotiations proceed.

Iran has previously agreed in past negotiations with Western nations not to pursue nuclear weapons.

However, Tehran continued enriching uranium to levels approaching weapons-grade capability, raising concerns among U.S. officials and allies.

Trump referenced earlier military operations, including last summer’s Operation Midnight Hammer, which he said “obliterated” Iran’s nuclear weapons program.

He stated that recent strikes were carried out to prevent Iran from rebuilding those capabilities.

In addition to targeting nuclear infrastructure, the U.S. has also focused on limiting Iran’s missile capabilities. Officials have said those efforts are intended to reduce the risk of attacks against Israel and other U.S. allies in the region.

Negotiations are expected to continue in the coming days, with both diplomatic and military options remaining under consideration as the situation develops.
