Yuba City police on Friday released surveillance footage, body camera video, and 911 calls related to the officer-involved shooting of a 31-year-old man identified as Guillermo Figueroa.
The incident occurred on Feb. 26 in the 1800 block of Rapid Falls Drive. Authorities said Figueroa was suspected of assaulting a family member while nude before later confronting officers with a shovel.
According to police, officers were first dispatched at approximately 9:15 a.m. on Thursday to the area of Wild River Drive after multiple 911 callers reported a man running through the street without clothing.

The newly released footage shows Figueroa moving erratically through the neighborhood, including jumping over the top of a vehicle and breaking the front door of a residence.
Prior to the police response, Figueroa’s brother, Bryan, said he had been contacted by a relative about a disturbance at the family home.
Bryan Figueroa told KCRA 3 that he received a call from his aunt indicating his brother was striking their mother.
He also said the family believed Guillermo Figueroa had been using methamphetamine since January and that the suspected drug use contributed to increasingly aggressive behavior.

Body-worn camera footage shows officers arriving on scene and pursuing Figueroa into the front yard of a nearby residence.
Officers approached him with their weapons drawn and issued commands for him to comply.
Figueroa initially followed instructions and placed his hands behind his back.
However, as officers attempted to place him in handcuffs, he began resisting and struggled with officers on the ground.

The video shows Figueroa standing back up and moving toward officers after partially complying.
Officers deployed less-than-lethal options, including a stun gun and a baton, but police said those measures appeared to have no effect.
Figueroa is then seen turning away and breaking through a fence on the property, prompting officers to again use stun guns in an attempt to subdue him.
Moments later, the footage shows Figueroa retrieving a shovel from the yard.
He is seen swinging the tool multiple times in the direction of officers.
At that point, an officer discharged a service weapon.
At least two gunshots can be heard in the video.

Following the shooting, officers moved in to restrain Figueroa, who continued to resist efforts to be handcuffed.
Officers are heard giving commands for him to stop moving as they attempted to gain control of the situation.
After securing him, officers provided medical aid at the scene before he was transported to a hospital.
Authorities said Figueroa remains in critical condition at a medical facility in Sacramento.
Police said the investigation into the shooting is ongoing and is being conducted by multiple agencies.
The Yuba Sutter Officer Involved Shooting Team, the Sutter County District Attorney’s Office, and the Yuba City Police Department’s Professional Standards Unit are all reviewing the circumstances surrounding the incident.
