Comments from Jennifer Siebel Newsom about how she and California Governor Gavin Newsom are raising their children have resurfaced online, prompting renewed attention to her remarks on parenting and gender roles.

In a previously recorded interview that has recently circulated widely, Siebel Newsom discussed her approach to raising her sons, including how she introduces certain ideas about caregiving and representation through toys and reading.

“I've given our boys dolls, even if they tear the head off," she said. “I've given them dolls to learn that care and caregiving is not just an activity that's reserved for women, but that it's also an activity that is a responsibility of men."

Siebel Newsom also described how she modifies the language in books when reading to her children. She said she changes male characters to female in order to present different perspectives.

"What I have done with both my daughters and my sons is if I'm reading a book and the protagonist is a male, I just change the he to a she," Jennifer said.

"And it just normalizes for my sons, in particular, it’s not even ... I don't even just do it for my girls. I do it for my sons because I want them to see that women can be the center of a story, that women matter, that women are interesting."

She added further context about her views on shifting traditional roles.

"At the end of the day, we're all kind of like in this place in history maybe where we’re recognizing what it is to ultimately deconstruct all these gender roles and ultimately be human, and that's exciting to me," she said.

"So, you know, I'll just continue to kind of do my work and try and deconstruct all these limiting narratives about ultimately what it means to be human."

The interview has circulated again on social media platforms, where users have shared clips of her comments and discussed her approach to parenting.

In a separate video, Siebel Newsom addressed what she described as patterns within the Trump administration, referring to staffing changes involving female officials.

"I need to call out that it's no surprise to me that the first two prominent people pushed out of this administration were women,” she said, referencing the departures of Attorney General Pam Bondi and Kristi Noem.

The comments about parenting and gender roles come as public figures continue to face scrutiny for statements made in past interviews, particularly when clips resurface online and gain traction among broader audiences.

Governor Gavin Newsom has also spoken publicly about his children, noting differences in their interests.

He has said that one of his sons has been a fan of Charlie Kirk, a conservative political commentator.

He also said that another son once wanted to call President Trump using his phone in 2025.

The resurfaced remarks have drawn attention to how public officials and their families approach parenting topics, including how they discuss gender roles with their children.
