Authorities in Wisconsin released jaw-dropping video from a high speed chase that looks like something out of an action movie.

The footage from Fond du Lac County deputies and Wisconsin State Patrol troopers shows a wanted man launching his vehicle over oncoming traffic while trying to escape law enforcement officers.

The pursuit started early Saturday morning, May 9, when state troopers on I-41 northbound pulled over a suspicious car that turned out to be connected to a felony warrant in Kenosha County.

What should have been a routine stop turned chaotic when the suspect decided to make a run for it, forcing officers to call for backup and set off on a dangerous pursuit through multiple Wisconsin communities.

The suspect, identified as 44-year-old Dewayne Stokes of Milwaukee, had already built a rap sheet before this wild scene unfolded.

Court records revealed that Stokes was out on bond for operating a vehicle without the owner’s consent but had skipped court, leading to the warrant that got him stopped in the first place.

When a deputy from Fond du Lac County and another trooper arrived to assist, Stokes hit the gas and fled. Deputies tracked him as he exited I-41 onto Military Road.

For a moment it looked like he was going to surrender when he paused briefly at the top of the off-ramp, but in a split second he bolted again, sending officers back into pursuit.

The chase took a bizarre path through parking lots and city streets as Stokes tried to lose deputies along Pioneer Road and Johnson Street.

With light traffic and clear weather, he managed to weave dangerously before steering the vehicle back toward I-41 northbound, trying one last desperate escape.

As he sped toward the Winnebago Street off-ramp, the situation turned absolutely stunning.

According to law enforcement, Stokes’ vehicle went into a ditch, climbed an embankment, and then literally became airborne over waiting traffic before slamming into a field on the other side of the road.

Dashcam footage shows the car flying across lanes, a stunt no sane driver would attempt outside of a Hollywood set.

Deputies quickly rushed in once the car landed. Stokes jumped out and tried to make a run for it, but his dash ended abruptly when officers deployed a taser, bringing him down safely and ending the chase.

Despite the chaos, no bystanders were hurt, and officers successfully avoided a potential disaster.

Afterward, the suspect was taken to a local hospital for minor injuries before being booked into the Fond du Lac County jail.

Authorities say more charges are pending, including counts related to fleeing law enforcement and reckless endangerment stemming from the four and a half mile chase.

Locals in Fond du Lac County have expressed both amazement and frustration after the video went public.

Many viewers said it was hard to believe such reckless driving could occur on Wisconsin highways in broad daylight.

Others praised law enforcement for their restraint and fast response that kept innocent drivers out of harm’s way.

The sheriff’s office said the decision to release the footage was based on transparency and the need to show the public the dangers that officers face daily.

The video, viewed thousands of times online, makes one point abundantly clear: police officers never know when a routine traffic stop could turn into a life-threatening pursuit.

This case also highlights how leniency and revolving-door justice in liberal counties like Kenosha continue to fail the public.

Stokes was already a known offender who had walked free after stealing a car, then skipped court without consequence.

Instead of being behind bars where he belonged, he was back on the highway putting lives at risk until law enforcement finally caught him.

For many Wisconsinites, the video serves as a harsh reminder of what happens when criminals think they can outrun accountability.

It also reinforces the respect that hardworking law enforcement officers deserve every time they step out onto the road.

The Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Office credited coordination between multiple departments for the safe resolution of this chase.

"This was an extremely dangerous situation that could have ended tragically," said one deputy familiar with the incident.

"Our team handled it by the book and ensured no one got hurt out there."

While Stokes sits in jail awaiting his next court date, the viral footage is becoming a public symbol of both reckless criminal behavior and professional police work under pressure.

The entire state has now seen what can happen when liberal policies let career offenders roam free, only for law enforcement to clean up the mess later.

Thankfully this time, the story ends with no innocent lives lost. But without stronger accountability and support for law enforcement, the next airborne chase could have a much worse ending for Wisconsin families.
