Nicki Minaj declared in a new interview that she has officially shed any hesitation about her support for President Donald Trump, saying years of frustration with Democratic leaders and a bitter feud with Jay-Z drove her to publicly embrace the MAGA movement, as reported by Fox News.
The rapper said the political shift came after she felt snubbed by California Gov. Gavin Newsom and ignored by prominent Democrats during a difficult stretch in which her home was repeatedly targeted by online swatting attacks.
According to Minaj, her attempts to reach out to the governor’s office for help were brushed aside. “He just completely ignored me, with all the money I spent in taxes,” she told *Time*.

Minaj said the lack of assistance from Democratic leaders marked a turning point, especially when Republican Rep. Anna Paulina Luna of Florida offered help in 2025 after learning about the incidents.
“I was shocked,” Minaj said of Luna’s effort. “I’d never seen anyone in politics treat me that way.”
Luna reportedly helped Minaj get in touch with federal law enforcement and a private security firm, an experience that made the singer reconsider her political loyalties.
That experience, Minaj said, convinced her to stop concealing her admiration for Trump and his supporters. “That’s what made me say that I don’t care to keep this a secret anymore,” she admitted.

For years, Minaj explained, she hid her true political leanings because she feared blowback from the entertainment industry, which she described as overwhelmingly Democratic.
“It’s been ingrained in everyone’s brain in the music business that we are supposed to be a Democratic family,” she said.
She also alleged that her long-running tensions with Jay-Z worsened her disillusionment with party elites.
Minaj accused the rap mogul and his Roc Nation brand of trying to sabotage her career while maintaining close ties with Democratic figures, including former President Barack Obama.

“I think Jay-Z ended up costing Obama a lot, whether he knows it or not,” Minaj claimed, adding that “lots of rappers don’t like Jay-Z and were afraid to say it.”

Minaj further criticized Obama’s 2024 remarks aimed at Black male voters, saying the speech left many feeling unheard.
“I just saw so many videos of Black men saying that they didn’t like the way they felt about that speech that Obama gave,” she recalled.
When Fox News Digital reached out for comment, representatives for Minaj, Newsom, and Jay-Z did not immediately respond.
Trump, meanwhile, has enthusiastically welcomed Minaj’s public endorsement. He praised her at the world premiere of *Melania*, calling the rapper “a winner” and “a terrific person.”
The two previously appeared together at the Treasury Department’s Trump Accounts Summit in January 2026, where Minaj called herself Trump’s “number one fan.”
“The hate or what people have to say, it does not affect me at all,” she told the crowd.
“It actually motivates me to support him more.”
Minaj’s public connection to Trump began in late 2025, after the then-president promised to address violence against Christians in Nigeria.
The rapper thanked him publicly, writing, “Thank you to The President & his team for taking this seriously.”
Her full-throated break from the Democratic establishment marks one of the most dramatic political realignments by a major entertainer in recent years, underscoring Minaj’s willingness to defy Hollywood’s overwhelmingly liberal landscape.
