Texas state troopers once again showed that law enforcement is stepping up where the federal government refuses to act.

Twenty illegal aliens were found crammed inside the sleeping compartment of a semi truck after troopers made a traffic stop on the I-35 frontage road.

The driver, identified as Miguel Angel Velazquez Chavez, a 25-year-old Mexican national, tried to make a run for it as officers approached the vehicle.

His attempted escape was short-lived, and troopers swiftly apprehended him before he could get far.

Chavez now faces serious charges for evading arrest and human smuggling.

According to authorities, the discovery included sixteen adults and four children of Mexican and Guatemalan nationalities.

All of them were taken into custody and turned over to the U.S. Border Patrol.

The video captures officers carefully opening the sleeper cab and helping the illegal aliens out of the sweltering and cramped compartment where they were hiding.

Officials said this is not an isolated incident.

In fact, it marked the second major bust in the Laredo area this week alone.

Just days earlier, authorities uncovered forty-one illegal aliens packed inside a stash house in the same region.

It is another disturbing example of the chaos that continues to spill across the southern border as smugglers profit from the lawlessness.

Under the previous administration, smuggling rings and criminal networks grew bolder, often viewing the border as little more than a suggestion.

The human cost of this disaster cannot be overstated.

Children are being smuggled across in dangerous conditions, adults pay thousands for a chance to disappear illegally into the United States, and every day risks pile up for law enforcement officers putting their lives on the line to protect American communities.

Texas state troopers have taken an increasingly active role in apprehending smugglers, intercepting drugs, and preventing illegal crossings that the Biden administration ignored.

Law enforcement agents have repeatedly warned that these smuggling operations often tie directly into larger criminal enterprises involving human trafficking, drug distribution, and organized crime.
