Los Angeles mayoral candidate Nithya Raman issued a message of gratitude to supporters after advancing to the general election, but her social media post quickly became the center of intense online criticism from opponents questioning the election process, as reported by The Gateway Pundit.
Raman, a member of the Los Angeles City Council and a Democratic Socialist candidate for mayor, posted a lengthy message on X thanking supporters and celebrating her campaign’s progress after the results of the municipal election placed her in a position to move on to the next phase of the race.
The election drew significant attention after ballots continued to be counted for several days following Election Day.
I’m incredibly honored that voters have given us the opportunity to advance to the general election for Mayor of Los Angeles.
To the thousands of supporters who knocked doors, made calls, sent texts, donated, and opened their homes for events across the city, and to everyone… — Nithya Raman (@nithyavraman) June 9, 2026
As final results were tabulated, Raman secured enough support to advance while television personality Spencer Pratt failed to qualify for the general election ballot.

Following the outcome, Raman published a statement expressing appreciation for campaign volunteers and supporters across Los Angeles.
“I’m incredibly honored that voters have given us the opportunity to advance to the general election for Mayor of Los Angeles,” Raman wrote.
“To the thousands of supporters who knocked doors, made calls, sent texts, donated, and opened their homes for events across the city, and to everyone else who made this moment possible: thank you, from the bottom of my heart.”
Raman also outlined the themes she intends to emphasize during the remainder of the campaign.

“Now our fight for a healthier, safer, more affordable, and more joyful Los Angeles continues,” she wrote.
“For too long, City Hall has prioritized giving political advantage to powerful interests that fund elections. Meanwhile, working people pay the price in higher rents, depleted services, and a city that has stopped working for them.”
She concluded the message with a call for additional support heading into the general election.
“If you’re as frustrated by the broken status quo as I am, I hope you’ll join our movement to build a city that works for everyone.”
While supporters praised the message, critics quickly filled the replies section with objections and skepticism surrounding the election process.

No Nithya, cheating the vote is not how you win an HONEST election. You didn’t even win your own council district (CD4).

Many responses focused on concerns about extended ballot counting and broader debates over election administration.
The reaction highlighted the sharply divided political environment surrounding the Los Angeles mayoral race.
Online discussions about the election have continued well after voting concluded, with supporters and opponents offering competing interpretations of the results.
Raman’s advancement to the general election ensures that she will remain one of the most closely watched political figures in Los Angeles over the coming months.
Her campaign has centered on issues including housing affordability, public services, and local government priorities.
At the same time, critics have continued to question aspects of the election process and have used social media to voice concerns about the outcome.
Those debates intensified following Raman’s post, which rapidly attracted widespread attention and generated substantial engagement.
