CNN political commentator Scott Jennings sent shockwaves through the liberal echo chamber when he unveiled polling data that simply confirmed what most conservatives have known for years.

Democrats’ love for America evaporates the second they lose control. Jennings used fresh Gallup data to make the point that the left’s patriotism is as shallow as their economic talking points.

During a recent CNN panel, Jennings pointed to a Gallup poll showing that just 36 percent of Democrats say they are extremely or very proud to be American, a massive drop from 62 percent only a year ago.

Meanwhile, Republicans, who generally love their country whether they win or lose, continued to show overwhelming pride.

Ninety-two percent of Republicans said they are proud to be Americans, a number that has stayed high for decades.

Jennings looked across the studio at his liberal counterparts and laid it out plainly.

“You have to love your country, whether or not you lost the last election,” he said.

“I love America. Most Republicans love America. Ninety percent are very proud to be Americans. They’re proud of living in this country.”

The contrast could not be clearer.

Conservatives love the country for what it stands for, not for who sits in the Oval Office.

The Gallup results are not a one off.

The only other time Democrats’ pride dipped below a majority was in 2020, when President Trump was at the helm in his first term.

In other words, when Democrats are out of power, they pout.

When they have the reins, they suddenly rediscover patriotism, but only for as long as it suits their political goals.

Jennings went on to highlight a particularly telling example of this attitude.

He referenced far left Hollywood actor Robert DeNiro, who recently declared he does not love America anymore while bashing President Trump as a “racist, misogynist, xenophobic tyrant.”

The irony was not lost on viewers watching a millionaire celebrity denounce the very country that made him rich and famous.

De Niro took his rant a step further, comparing love of country to the self delusion of an abused spouse. Jennings did not mince words in response.

“Unfortunately, I think Mr. De Niro’s comments are pretty indicative of a majority of Democrats who can’t seem to find that attitude inside them to love your country even though you lost the last election,” he said.

He added, “Loving America, being a patriot for America, feeling good about America shouldn’t be dictated by whether you won or lost. When I hear DeNiro, I hear him saying, ‘I can only love America if we win every election from here on out.’ That’s a rather fascist statement.”

Even the other panelists could not easily counter the numbers or the logic.

One analyst on the panel backed Jennings up with more historical context.

“Gallup polling data from 25 years ago says Republicans were 90 percent proud or extremely proud to be Americans. Democrats were 87 percent. Today, Republicans are slightly higher at 92 percent, while Democrats have plummeted to 36 percent. Robert DeNiro’s views are not out of step with the median Democrat.”

That snapshot alone tells the story of a party that has lost touch with the idea of national pride.

Jennings took the conversation further on his podcast.

He pointed to another survey from NBC News showing that overall, only 56 percent of Americans feel extremely or very proud to be American.

When the data is broken down by party, 90 percent of Republicans say they are proud, compared to a dismal 29 percent of Democrats.

“The Democratic Party hates America,” Jennings declared.

“And according to Robert DeNiro, it’s because they lost an election.”

The generational results are equally alarming.

Among those over 65 years old, a strong 75 percent say they are proud to be American.

That number drops to just 36 percent among those aged 18 to 34.

The left may be training a generation to despise their own country through academia, pop culture, and the nonstop grievances of identity politics.

Conservatives see that trend as a direct threat to the nation’s future.

Jennings’ straightforward message on a liberal network stood out in a media landscape that often excuses the left’s disdain for America.

He made it clear that the difference between the parties runs deeper than policies.

It is about the fundamental question of whether one actually values the country that guarantees freedom, opportunity, and equality before the law.

For Republicans, that answer is easy.

Their pride in America is not conditional.

Whether the government is in liberal hands or conservative control, they still stand for the flag and believe in the country’s promise.

For too many Democrats and their Hollywood idols, love of country seems to come with an expiration date set to their next election loss.

Jennings managed to make the simplest point of all, one that used to be considered common sense.

Real patriotism is not about power, it is about principle.

The poll only proves what the American right already knows.

One side loves the nation that gave them freedom.

The other, only when it serves their politics.
