Jason Alexander has responded to Courtney Stodden’s demand for action after a controversial comedy sketch from 2012 resurfaced and prompted Stodden to speak publicly about what happened when she was underage, as reported by Page Six.

The “Seinfeld” alum donated $15,000 to Unchained At Last, an organization focused on ending child marriage and forced marriage, TMZ reported Thursday.

Alexander’s rep also told TMZ that the actor had submitted the payment, though the rep declined to disclose the amount that was donated.

The donation came after Stodden, 31, called out Alexander, 66, over a “Funny or Die” sketch they filmed together when Stodden was 17.

Earlier this week, Stodden reposted a photo from the sketch on Instagram. The image showed Alexander rubbing Stodden’s breast with his phone as part of a bit about trying to get a signal.

“I was 17 years old in this photo,” Stodden wrote alongside the picture, which showed Stodden in a bikini and Alexander, who was 52 at the time, in a suit.

“The older I get, the more impossible this is to understand,” Stodden continued, describing how Alexander repeatedly moved the phone across Stodden’s breast while delivering lines about signal in Stodden’s head and chest.

Stodden also said Alexander “joked that when I turn 18 he’d like to take me behind the couch and ‘have his way’ with me.”

According to IMDb, Alexander was listed as a writer on “The Don Clay Show with Courtney Stodden.” Stodden’s then-husband, Doug Hutchison, also appeared in the sketch.

Stodden was 16, and Hutchison was 51 when they married in 2011. Stodden ended the marriage in 2018, and their divorce was finalized two years later.

In the Instagram caption, Stodden said that being an adult has made the circumstances harder to understand. Stodden wrote, “I was a minor,” and said adults signed the contracts, while the paycheck went to Doug.

Stodden added that the production still moved forward and said, “I was the only child in the room.”

Stodden questioned how adults could look at a minor and decide the material was acceptable. Stodden also wrote that children deserve laws that protect them and should not have to become adults before realizing the law should have protected them.

Alexander later addressed Stodden’s post and accepted responsibility in a statement to Page Six.

“Looking back at the comedy sketch in which Ms. Stodden and I participated in 2012, I completely agree that it was inappropriate and I truly regret it.”

“But more importantly, I am deeply sorry for any harm or distress it has caused Ms. Stodden,” Alexander added.

“I offer her my sincerest apologies.”

On Wednesday, Stodden said they were “very taken aback” when they learned Alexander had apologized, because “a lot of adults” have not taken “accountability” for their actions.

“When I first got word that he publicly apologized, I was grateful because I think that’s the first step in change,” Stodden told Variety. Stodden also said “it would be even better” if Alexander made amends by supporting Unchained At Last.
