CNN complained on air after the White House removed the network from the television pool rotation for an Air Force One trip and Real America’s Voice and LindellTV stepped in to provide coverage.

CNN White House correspondent Alayna Treene announced the change during an appearance with Anderson Cooper.

She made clear that the liberal network was not pleased about losing its scheduled place in the rotation.

The television pool system allows designated networks to record video that other news organizations may use. CNN had originally been scheduled to handle those duties, but White House guidance issued Friday night left the network off the plane.

“The White House is now preventing CNN from carrying out their TV duties,” Treene said.

“It’s unclear what’s going to happen to [the pool coverage] now.”

Treene pointed to a lawyer representing CNN, Politico, and MS NOW as the dispute continued.

The legal action had restored access credentials for the outlets, but questions remained about Air Force One and pool assignments.

“We did hear our outside lawyer representing CNN, Politico, and MS NOW say earlier today that he believed the restoration of the outlet’s access included the White House pool, but clearly this White House is keeping us from doing so,” Treene continued.

“We know that they are definitely singling us out here.”

CNN later reported that “no outlet” had been listed to replace the network, a claim that dismissed the role played by Real America’s Voice and LindellTV.

Both outlets ultimately stepped forward to fill the coverage gap left by the dispute.

“The move, announced Friday night in a White House note that lays out the president’s schedule, represents the Trump administration’s latest salvo against CNN and the broader White House press corps. No outlet was listed as replacing CNN, meaning there will be no television pool coverage of his trip,” CNN claimed.

President Donald Trump had banned CNN, MS NOW, and Politico from the White House complex the previous week.

He accused the three outlets of spreading “FICTION and LIES.”

U.S. District Judge Timothy Kelly issued a 14 day restraining order Thursday that restored the outlets’ credentials.

Kelly said the situation appeared to present a due process problem.

The judge’s order applied to access to the White House building, but it did not resolve access to Air Force One or participation in the television pool rotation.

That distinction left the White House trip coverage at the center of the fight.

CNN had also previously been removed from pool duty for the UN General Assembly.

Fox, ABC, CBS, and NBC then declined to take the network’s place.

“This is to advise that, effective today, the TV pool will not be covering events designated as pool coverage of the President,” Boughton wrote in an email obtained by POLITICO.

“This follows the White House’s position preventing CNN from fulfilling its assigned pool duties. There will be no replacement pool put in place.”

Real America’s Voice and LindellTV did not leave the public without video.

Real America’s Voice pledged to provide every outlet with a free, clean feed of White House and travel pool footage.

“At a time when a handful of legacy outlets are casting the President’s decision as the death of the free press, the reality is exactly the opposite,” Parker Sigg, Vice President of Real America’s Voice, said in a press release.

“Real America’s Voice is pleased to provide a feed of the pool camera to all the media, even the fake news , and to the American people. A free press is alive and well, and we are honored to be a conduit of this foundational constitutional principle for all of America.”

LindellTV and Real America’s Voice also covered Xi Jinping’s arrival at the White House and Joint Base Andrews when the legacy television pool sat out.

While CNN portrayed the episode as an attack on press access, the alternative outlets provided footage and promised to share it freely with other media organizations.
