The Congressional Equality Caucus is taking a victory lap after Democrats swept races across the country Tuesday and captured control of the House and Senate. The victories will give Democrats command of Congress during President Trump’s final two years in office.
“The American people have made their voices heard,” the Equality Caucus posted Thursday on social media. The message appeared alongside an image showing a rainbow behind the U.S. Capitol Dome.
“The 120th Congress will officially be the GAYEST Congress in history! (that we know of),” the caucus announced. The leftist group followed that declaration with emojis representing the United States, LGBT, and transgender flags.

The celebration arrived alongside excitement from Queer News Tonight, which predicted that a Congress controlled by Democrats would quickly change House rules governing restroom access. The program focused specifically on Rep. Sarah McBride of Delaware, formerly known as Tim.

McBride, a biological man who identifies as a woman, won reelection Tuesday. Queer News Tonight predicted that Democrats would allow McBride to use women’s restrooms in the halls of Congress after they take control.
“Trans dignity, coming to the halls of Congress. Sarah McBride, the Congresswoman from Delaware, easily won re-election last night,” Queer News Tonight’s John Hayden said following the midterm elections.
“Originally elected in 2024, she is the first openly trans woman in Congress. For the past two years, she’s been forced to use the men’s restroom under rules passed by House Republicans,” Hayden continued.
Hayden predicted that the policy would be reversed once Democrats take power. “When Democrats take the gavel in January, expect that to change. They vehemently protested the rule two years ago, which specifically was created to target McBride.”

“Soon, Democrats will make the rules and make things right,” Hayden added. He asserted that “this is going to be an injustice corrected” and said McBride would finally be treated as “worthy” by being allowed into a restroom reserved for biological women.
Democrats also celebrated several other LGBT candidates who won congressional races. Openly gay Democrat Chris Pappas captured a Senate seat in New Hampshire, while openly gay JD Ford won Indiana’s 5th Congressional District.
Lesbian Rep. Sharice Davids secured reelection in Kansas. Rep. Ritchie Torres of New York, whom the Advocate describes as “the first out gay Afro-Latino member of Congress,” won a fourth term.
Democrat Jeremy Moss also prevailed in Michigan, becoming the state’s first openly gay House lawmaker. The collection of victories gave the Congressional Equality Caucus plenty to celebrate as Democrats prepared to take both chambers.
The caucus festivities also showed that the left has hardly abandoned its devotion to the LGBT agenda. Americans pushed back against the broader culture war by electing Trump in 2024, but Democrats are again putting these issues front and center.
During former President Joe Biden’s term, Democrats promoted drag queen story hours and advocated for so called gender affirming care for children. Those policies included puberty blockers, hormone therapy, and genital mutilation.
Admiral Rachel Levine, Biden’s transgender Assistant Secretary for Health at the Department of Health and Human Services, declared the entire summer of 2023 a “summer of pride” as Pride Month ended. Levine also described hormone therapy, puberty blockers, and surgeries as “medically necessary” for children suffering from gender dysmorphia.
Major retailers joined the frenzy, with Target offering “tuck-friendly” bathing suits for males seeking to mimic females and light binding swim apparel for females. The retailer also sold children’s clothing marketed as being thoughtfully designed for multiple gender expressions.
Virtually every federal agency, including the Department of State and Department of Justice, celebrated pride during June. Those trends came to a dramatic halt under Trump, while some Democrats later dismissed their previous excesses as the “crazy” version of woke politics.
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez invoked that framing after defending a socialist candidate who once advocated canceling Thanksgiving. “And I have a local city councilman that has this saying that ‘Woke 1 was crazy,’” Ocasio-Cortez said. “And I think that what’s important is that we have to assess what a candidate is saying now.”
Yet Democrats are once again celebrating the gayest Congress to date while championing socialism and rejoicing in the murder of unborn children. Judging by the Equality Caucus celebration, “Woke 1” may not have been a passing left-wing phase after all.
