Fox Business Network’s Stuart Varney is an avid defender of President Donald Trump. Today on his program Varney & Company, the host had Joe Walsh on the show; Walsh is a Republican challenging Trump in 2020. Things got heated during the interview, fast.
Varney was the first Fox host to invite Walsh on the network. He first called out Walsh for accusing Obama of being “a Muslim,” after which Walsh apologized. Walsh said, “I apologized for helping to create the environment that put such a cruel bigoted unfit con man in the White House. I feel sort of responsible for this.”
But Varney wasn’t done. He said, “You say the President is bigoted. You, sir, are bigoted. June 2016, you said, ‘No more Muslims in the U.S. They want us dead. They seek to kill us. Islam is a doctrine of hatred,’ et cetera, et cetera, et cetera. That’s bigotry any way you slice it. You said the single greatest act of racism in American history was the election of Barack Obama, people voted for him simply because he’s black. Bigotry, Joe.”

Walsh apologized again and asked if “Trump ever apologized for anything.”
Varney, who was becoming frustrated at this point, cut off the interview and made one final dig at Walsh for losing his radio show: “No. He hasn’t apologized for anything. I don’t think he should. We are over, Joe. I’m sorry. Time’s up. You used to run a media show. Hard break.”
Varney is one of the few Fox anchors brave enough to come to the defense of Trump in recent weeks. The president has been vocal in his criticisms of the network recently, as many of its anchors–including Chris Wallace, Shep Smith, and even Neil Cavuto–appear to have taken a more critical stance against the administration during recent broadcasts.

The rift started when the president said on Twitter, “Fox isn’t working for us anymore,” and that he and his followers “have to start looking for a new News Outlet.”
Cavuto responded on his own show yesterday by saying, “First of all, Mr. President, we don’t work for you. I don’t work for you. My job is to cover you, not fun over you or rip you, just cover you. Call balls and strikes. Our job is to keep score, not settle scores. … You’re entitled to your point of view, Mr. President, but you’re not entitled to your own set of facts.”
