Sydney Sweeney’s latest appearance in “Euphoria” has generated widespread reaction online following a wedding scene that drew attention for its wardrobe choices and storyline developments, as reported by Fox News.
In the third episode of the show’s third season, Sweeney’s character, Cassie Howard, is shown getting married in what was intended to be a “classy wedding.” Instead, viewers focused on the revealing design of her dress, which featured a low-cut corset style that exposed custom-made pasties during key moments of the scene.
During the episode, Cassie shares a first dance with her on-screen husband Nate Jacobs, played by Jacob Elordi. Throughout the sequence, the dress design led to repeated visibility of the pasties, prompting a surge of commentary across social media platforms.
One user on X wrote, "Cassie saying she's not having a ghetto wedding and having her whole nipple pasties out in her wedding dress."

Sydney Sweeney has always been able to act. Regardless of your personal views on her, she knows what she’s doing on screen. I recently reviewed The Housemaid with Sweeney- she’s excellent. It’s why her excellence on Euphoria doesn’t surprise me. She’s been the best part of S3. pic.twitter.com/OZnzqoJlJh

Costume designer Natasha Newman-Thomas addressed the decision in an interview, explaining that the wardrobe adjustments were intentional after repeated issues during filming.
"Sydney kept having nip slips, and I was like, 'OK, we're not going to tape her in. We're going to embrace it.' And I was like, 'We're going to make custom pasties out of the same hand-beaded fabric and embrace the nip slip because that's so Cassie.'"
She added that the final design was meant to reflect the character’s mindset. "And we really wanted her to feel special," Newman-Thomas explained.
"And I wanted to make the most beautiful, sexy wedding dress with just the slightest touch of tackiness because it's Cassie."
Sweeney has faced criticism throughout the third season, which premiered on April 12, particularly regarding Cassie’s storyline. The character’s arc has centered on her decision to pursue an OnlyFans account to fund an elaborate wedding.
"I've no words for Sydney, this scene [is] actually terrible," one viewer wrote about a separate scene involving the character’s content creation.
Some viewers also criticized the direction of the storyline, suggesting it placed the character in a negative light.
One X user wrote, "Sydney Sweeney in season 3 is literally just humiliating her. I don't get how they don't see that it's not about this, her role is reduced to basically HUMILIATING HER, she's not gonna win any awards like that."
Sydney Sweeney en la temporada 3 es literalmente humillarla. No entiendo como no ven q no es por acá, su papel se reduce a básicamente a HUMILLARLA, no va a ganar ningún premio así.

Chloe Cherry, who appears in the series as Faye Valentine, also commented on the storyline during an interview. "People have the weirdest ideas and fantasies of sex work being like, so empowering, and we’ve seen all these news stories where they’re like, ‘Oh, OnlyFans model makes $700 billion in a month,’ and everyone’s like, 'whoa,'" Cherry said.
She added, "I literally just think that these things are a bit of smoke and mirrors, actually, and I don’t know. I don’t even really understand what it means to be on OnlyFans. Honestly, I don’t even really know what people are doing on there."

Cherry also questioned the storyline’s realism, stating, "It’s really hard to say if it would give [Cassie] any power. Obviously, Cassie is extremely attractive, so it probably would lead to her making a lot of money. But it just feels crazy as f--k to see somebody living like Cassie turn to sex work. It’s like, holy s--t, that’s where we’re at in society?"
She continued, "I really think that OnlyFans is a crazy, weird phenomenon of the 2020s that we will look back on and be very confused by."
Cherry, who joined the series in its second season, also discussed broader cultural trends related to the platform. "OnlyFans and sex work have become more normalized, but it’s literally only because of capitalism and the economy getting worse," she said.
"It has nothing to do with empowerment or power or anything. What it actually 100% has to do with is just the fact that we live under capitalism and the economy is horrible. That’s why people are turning to it."
